What is hydrosalpinx?

What is hydrosalpinx?

Do you know what hydrosalpinx is? It is a very common phenomenon among female friends and has a great impact on women. It is also a common inflammation of the fallopian tube and has a high incidence rate among gynecological inflammations. Do you know the causes of hydrosalpinx? There are many reasons for it. The most common one is not paying attention to hygiene during menstruation. I hope everyone pays attention to this disease.

Introduction

Hydrosalpinx (hydrosalpinx) refers to the swelling of the endometrium, interstitial edema, exudation, and shedding of the tubal mucosal epithelium caused by the infiltration of leukocytes after the fallopian tube is infected by pathogens. If the acute inflammation of the fallopian tube is not treated promptly and effectively, it will form pus in the fallopian tube. After the inflammation of pyosalpinx subsides, the pus is gradually absorbed and the fluid in the cavity changes from purulent to serous, which becomes hydrosalpinx. Simple pyosalpingitis may evolve into scar salpingitis or hydrosalpingitis after the inflammation subsides. The latter is a common complication of chronic salpingitis, manifested by occlusion of the fimbria and cystic dilatation of the fallopian tube. The wall of the tube becomes thin and translucent, and the cyst is filled with clear serous fluid. The lumens of the dilated and non-dilated parts of the fallopian tube are still connected, so patients often have vaginal discharge. The muscular layer of the tube wall atrophies or is completely replaced by fibrous connective tissue, and the epithelium is compressed and becomes cubic or flat. The mucosal folds are reduced, and a small amount of lymphocyte infiltration is present in the lamina propria.

Causes

(1) Failure to pay attention to menstrual hygiene, sexual intercourse during menstruation or unclean sexual intercourse, etc. are the main culprits of fallopian tube disease.

(2) While intrauterine devices are widely used, fallopian tube disease is caused by patients not paying attention to personal hygiene or not performing surgical procedures strictly.

(3) If there is an infection in other parts of the body and it is not treated promptly, the pathogens can spread through the bloodstream and cause salpingo-oophoritis, which is more common in tuberculosis diseases.

(4) After childbirth or abortion, due to the decrease in resistance, pathogens can ascend through the reproductive tract and spread to the fallopian tubes, ovaries, and then the entire pelvic cavity, causing fallopian tube inflammation.

(5) Uterine cavity operations performed without strict disinfection, such as vacuum extraction, hysterosalpingography, cervical canal treatment, and obstetric surgery infections without strict disinfection, aggravate gynecological inflammation.

Clinical manifestations

Patients often have a history of abdominal pain during the acute stage of fallopian tube inflammation. Generally, after the fallopian tube pus turns into serous, that is, fallopian tube hydrops or the fluid is absorbed by the body, the inflammation is often cured long ago. Therefore, patients with fallopian tube hydrops usually do not have abdominal pain symptoms. Because the lumens of the dilated and non-dilated parts of the fallopian tubes can still communicate when hydrosalpinx occurs, patients often have intermittent vaginal discharge, and infertility is often the only manifestation of hydrosalpinx.

Now everyone should have some understanding of hydrosalpinx. If you suffer from this disease, I hope that female friends can seek treatment as soon as possible. You should also pay attention to hygiene in your daily life, especially after childbirth and during menstruation, to avoid the occurrence of gynecological diseases.
