The effects of Salvia miltiorrhiza: The root is used as medicine, contains tanshinone, which is a tonic emmenagogue with the effects of removing blood stasis, promoting new blood circulation, activating blood circulation, and regulating menstruation. It is an important gynecological medicine, mainly used to treat uterine bleeding, irregular menstruation, blood stasis, abdominal pain, dysmenorrhea, amenorrhea, and temple pain. It has a good effect in treating coronary heart disease. In addition, it can also treat neurasthenia and insomnia, joint pain, anemia, mastitis, lymphadenitis, arthritis, sores, erysipelas, acute and chronic hepatitis, pyelonephritis, trauma, hepatosplenomegaly in late-stage schistosomiasis, and epilepsy. It can also be used externally to wash paint sores.

Adverse reactions of Danshen: Some patients may experience stomach pain, loss of appetite, dry mouth and throat, nausea and vomiting during the use of Danshen. This is related to the fact that Danshen can inhibit the secretion of digestive juices. It is advisable to stop taking the drug and take oral drugs such as Weishuping and Probenxin. In severe cases, atropine can be injected subcutaneously. Some patients with late-stage schistosomiasis and hepatosplenomegaly may experience upper gastrointestinal bleeding after taking large doses of Salvia miltiorrhiza. In this case, the use of Salvia miltiorrhiza should be discontinued and the patients should be given hemostatic agents, vitamins, etc. Salvia miltiorrhiza can cause allergic reactions, manifested as itching of the skin all over the body, rash, and hives. Some are also accompanied by chest tightness and shortness of breath, difficulty breathing, and even chills, dizziness, nausea and vomiting, irritability, and then pale complexion, cold limbs and sweating, low blood pressure, and even fainting and shock. Therefore, pregnant women should not eat salvia miltiorrhiza, so as not to cause too many adverse reactions and harm the growth of the fetus in the body.
