Can I get pregnant if I have uterine fibroids?

Disease is something that everyone should avoid as much as possible. No one is born to like being sick, but diseases always come to people on their own, making it difficult for them to guard against them. They can only passively seek ways to treat them. For women, it is very common to suffer from various gynecological diseases. These diseases directly affect the female reproductive system, which makes people unconsciously pay attention to them.

Uterine fibroids are a disease that every woman will suffer from. Of course, it is not like some other tumors that will take people's lives as soon as they break out. Mild uterine fibroids usually disappear on their own without people noticing them. However, more serious uterine fibroids will still have a certain impact. So will uterine fibroids make people unable to get pregnant?

It is not impossible that some women may become infertile due to uterine fibroids, but it cannot be said that as long as they have uterine fibroids, they will become infertile and their wish to become a mother will be shattered. This is too absolute.

Uterine fibroids can affect pregnancy, and about 25%-40% of patients suffer from infertility. This is related to the size of the fibroid and where it grows. For example, fibroids in the uterine cornu can cause the fallopian tube to twist and deform, affecting the passage of sperm or fertilized eggs and reducing the chance of conception. Submucosal uterine fibroids occupy the space in the uterine cavity, affecting the implantation of the fertilized egg.

Relatively large intramural fibroids can not only change the normal shape of the uterine cavity, but also compress the fallopian tubes. Therefore, in order to improve the chances of fertility, especially for infertile patients with fibroids, it is important to seek medical attention promptly. The doctor will adopt different surgical plans according to the size of the fibroids and the different locations of their growth. They may perform open abdominal removal of the tumor on the uterus, or remove the submucosal fibroids under hysteroscopy. This can preserve the patient's reproductive function and increase the chance of conception.

Pregnancy is a time when a woman truly realizes her identity as a woman. A woman who cannot get pregnant is incomplete, and it is a pity for everyone. Therefore, people should take good care of their health and not bear any illness, whether major or minor, by themselves. Only by seeking medical treatment in time can they recover in time and prevent the disease from harming people more.
