Five major killers that cause cervical erosion

Five major killers that cause cervical erosion

Cervical erosion is a manifestation of chronic cervicitis, which mainly refers to the complete peeling of the cervical mucosa in the vagina, exposing the rough tissue surface at the bottom, like an ulcer, without epithelial coverage. Usually, a circle of varying sizes or irregular red areas can be seen on the cervix in the vagina. The surface is covered with a single layer of columnar epithelium, with congested and edematous capillaries, closed glands, and accumulation of viscous or purulent secretions. The surface is often red and uneven. This is called cervical erosion.

The first killer: unclean sex life

Due to the barrier protection of the hymen, the microecological environment in the vagina of unmarried women is in a balanced state. Even if pathogens invade, they are unlikely to cause trouble, so cervical erosion rarely occurs. Once you have sex, the vagina is in a relatively "open" state. During sexual intercourse, the penis and cervix are in direct contact. If men do not pay attention to sexual hygiene, they can directly bring bacteria into the vagina and infect the cervix. For women who already have cervical erosion, it can aggravate their cervical inflammation, expand the erosion area, and in severe cases, bleeding during sexual intercourse may occur. Therefore, men are to blame for cervical erosion. Therefore, men must be persuaded to clean their external genitalia before having sex.

The second killer: multiple abortions

More importantly, repeated artificial abortions can cause varying degrees of cervical damage, giving bacteria an opportunity to invade and cause cervicitis. Due to the stimulation of inflammation, local secretions increase, and long-term immersion of the cervix in inflammatory secretions will cause erosion. Therefore, women of childbearing age must take good contraceptive measures, avoid multiple artificial abortions, and prevent the occurrence of cervical erosion.

Mild cervical erosion often has no clinical symptoms. Some patients may experience increased vaginal discharge, which may be milky white mucus or yellow pus. Sometimes there may be bloody vaginal discharge or cervical contact bleeding. It generally does not affect fertility, so female friends do not need to worry too much.

The third killer: Over-cleaning

Some women pay great attention to hygiene, but lack the necessary knowledge and often use high-concentration disinfectant to flush the vagina, which has the opposite effect. Because doing so will not only affect the growth of normal vaginal flora and reduce its ability to inhibit pathogens, but can also cause varying degrees of cervical epithelial damage and eventually erosion. Therefore, the correct way to clean the genitals should be: clean the vulva appropriately, do not flush the vagina unless necessary, maintain the natural defense line of the female reproductive tract, do not destroy the ecological balance in the vagina, and prevent bacteria from causing trouble.

The fourth killer: menstruation lasts too long

Studies have shown that cervical erosion is related to the menstrual cycle and the number of days it lasts: the prevalence rate is 81.80% for those with a menstrual cycle ≤20 days, and ≤43.81% for those with a menstrual cycle ≥20 days; the prevalence rate is only 33.33% for those with a menstrual cycle lasting ≤2 days, and 83.33% for those with a menstrual cycle lasting ≥8 days. Therefore, women whose cycles are too short or last too long will have a greater chance of developing cervical erosion. The incidence of erosion can be reduced by prolonging the cycle and shortening the menstrual period.

The fifth killer: multiple sexual partners, excessive sexual activity (more than 4 times a week), sexual activity during menstruation, etc., are also causes of cervical erosion that cannot be ignored.

To sum up, paying attention to sexual hygiene, avoiding repeated miscarriages, properly cleaning the vulva, adjusting the menstrual cycle and eliminating extramarital sex are the fundamental ways to stay away from cervical erosion.
