What is Corpus Luteum Rupture

Corpus luteum rupture is one of the most common acute abdominal diseases in gynecology. This disease is more likely to occur in young women between the ages of fourteen and thirty. Therefore, we must understand what corpus luteum rupture is. After all, this disease is clinically called a "youth killer." The consequences of not receiving timely treatment will be disastrous.

The occurrence of corpus luteum rupture can cause many harms to people's bodies. What is corpus luteum rupture? In fact, it varies from person to person, and the clinical symptoms and manifestations of the disease also vary a lot. Many times, it is possible that there is only slight pain on one side of the lower abdomen. The ruptured capillaries in the corpus luteum will heal on their own over time, and if some blood flows out, it can be absorbed by itself without leaving any sequelae.

The corpus luteum is formed when the follicle collapses after it matures and ovulates. The granulosa cells and theca cells remaining in the follicle hypertrophy and proliferate, containing yellow lipids, so they are called "corpus luteum cells" and gradually form a corpus luteum. One week after ovulation, the corpus luteum develops to its peak, with a diameter of 1 to 3 cm and an inner layer covered with abundant capillaries.

At this time, if the egg is fertilized, this general corpus luteum will turn into a pregnant corpus luteum, which will continue to last until 4 to 6 months of pregnancy before beginning to degenerate; if the egg is not fertilized, the corpus luteum will begin to degenerate, gradually forming a corpus albicans until it atrophies and disappears. After another 4 to 6 days, menstruation occurs and a new follicle develops in the ovary. It can be seen from this that corpus luteum rupture is most likely to occur within a week after the middle of the menstrual period.

Women of childbearing age must understand what corpus luteum rupture disease is when they are in the middle of their menstrual cycle, because if they experience severe lower abdominal pain about a week after their period becomes pregnant, they must fully consider the corpus luteum rupture phenomenon in their body. It is recommended to consult a gynecologist in time and make reasonable treatment.
