How to calculate pregnancy period

How to calculate pregnancy period

There are several important periods in a woman's life, such as menstruation and pregnancy. Among these special periods, the one that people are most concerned about is pregnancy. Why? This is mainly because during pregnancy, women carry a fetus in their uterus. Their every movement, diet, psychological activity, etc. will affect the development of the fetus. Moreover, the nutrition required by the fetus at different times is different. So how should we calculate the pregnancy period?

When calculating the pregnancy period, I believe that many people who become parents for the first time may not know this. Many people still think that the pregnancy period is calculated based on the day of intercourse. In fact, the calculation of the pregnancy period has little to do with the time of intercourse. The most important factor affecting the calculation is the last menstrual period. Let us take a brief look at it below.

The month of the mother's last menstrual period minus 3 (or plus 9) is the possible month of the fetus' birthday, and the date of the first day of the mother's last menstrual period plus 7 is the possible birthday of the fetus.

So, when is it appropriate to add 9 to the month and when is it appropriate to subtract 3 from the month? There are 12 months in a year. If the number after adding 9 is greater than 12, use the subtract 3 method to calculate. If the month is less than or equal to three, use the add nine method to calculate.

For example: If the mother's last menstrual period was October 5th, then the fetus's possible birthday month is 10-3=7 (month), and the possible birthday date is 5+7=12 (day), and the result is July 12th of the following year.

To sum up, we can understand a method to calculate the pregnancy period. In fact, as long as we know a method to calculate the pregnancy period, we can also roughly understand when we are pregnant. We can absorb nutrition according to the different nutritional requirements of the fetus in each period, which is more conducive to the healthy growth of the fetus.
