What to do if you have hemorrhoids during pregnancy

What to do if you have hemorrhoids during pregnancy

We all know that the appearance of hemorrhoids in daily life is very inconvenient for our daily activities. For expectant mothers, it is even more uncomfortable if they find hemorrhoids. So, what measures should be taken at this time to control hemorrhoids in a timely manner? At this time, it is best to stop frequent daily work in time and pay attention to a balanced diet, so as to control the symptoms of hemorrhoids.

Hemorrhoids are quite uncomfortable and can easily damage our excretory system. Especially in summer, it is not very convenient for expectant mothers to move around, so it is very important to treat hemorrhoids in time. Of course, we all know that simply controlling the symptoms of hemorrhoids is far from enough. How can we relieve the symptoms?

During pregnancy, in order to ensure the nutritional supply of the fetus, the blood flow in the pelvic arteries increases. As the fetus develops, the uterus grows larger and compresses the pelvis, which hinders the blood return in the hemorrhoidal blood vessels. In addition, pregnant women often have difficulty in defecation or constipation, which causes blood stasis in the hemorrhoidal venous plexus of the lower rectum and anus, which can induce hemorrhoids or aggravate them.

Hemorrhoids usually appear in the late 28th to 36th week of pregnancy, especially constipation one week before delivery, which can cause local varicose veins and form hemorrhoids. This is because the blood supply to the pelvic cavity increases during pregnancy. As the fetus grows larger, the uterus also expands, compressing the veins and causing blood flow obstruction. In addition, the relaxation of pelvic tissue during pregnancy further promotes the occurrence and aggravation of hemorrhoids.

In order to ensure the growth of the fetus, pregnant women need more adequate nutrition than ordinary people. Hemorrhoids often bleed repeatedly, which over time can lead to anemia, dizziness, shortness of breath, fatigue, poor spirits and other symptoms. This not only affects the health of the pregnant woman herself, but also affects the normal development of the fetus, easily causing developmental delay, low weight, and even premature birth or death. Internal hemorrhoids or mixed hemorrhoids may prolapse outside the anus when they develop to a certain extent. As the hemorrhoids continue to grow and prolapse, when the abdominal pressure increases slightly such as when pregnant women are walking or coughing, the hemorrhoids may prolapse and they will be unable to participate in activities, which increases the mental and physical burden on women in the late stages of pregnancy.

In addition, due to the gradual increase in abdominal pressure, especially in the late pregnancy, many pregnant women experience edema of both lower limbs, dilation of the upper and lower anal veins, and increased congestion. Finally, during natural delivery, they hold their breath, causing a sharp rise in abdominal pressure, leading to hemorrhoidal edema, eversion, prolapse or incarceration, which are difficult to reduce, causing great pain to the mother and even affecting her physical and mental health throughout the postpartum period and maternity leave. The chances and risks of hemorrhoids in pregnant women are much greater than those in the general population, which is very dangerous for both the pregnant women themselves and the fetus in their womb.

If you get hemorrhoids in the early stages of pregnancy, you should not move too much and should rest properly in bed. You also need to do a good job of cleaning to avoid inflammation. I believe these methods are very helpful for today's expectant mothers. Timely control of disease symptoms can reduce the patient's pain. If you find any adverse symptoms in your daily life, you should seek medical attention in time and listen to the doctor's advice.
