Like gonococci, the impact on the fallopian tube is an ascending infection along the mucosa, through the endocervical canal, endometrium, and fallopian tube endometrium to the pelvic peritoneum. (3) Purulent salpingitis is seen in incomplete abortion, induced abortion and puerperal infection. The pathogenic bacteria are Staphylococcus pyogenes, Streptococcus, Escherichia coli and Pseudomonas aeruginosa, which cause interstitial salpingitis, isthmic nodular salpingitis, hydrosalpinx and pyosalpinx.
