Women should know how to calculate ovulation

Women should know that there is an ovulation period in our menstrual cycle. Calculating the ovulation period is very important for a female friend who wants to get pregnant, because the chance of conception during sexual intercourse during the ovulation period is very high. How to calculate your own ovulation period? We can infer it through many methods, some are simple and some are complicated. Let us take a closer look at the specific operation methods.

Generally, the 14th day of the menstrual period is our ovulation period. After the ovary ovulates, changes in the female endocrine system cause the body temperature to rise. Therefore, we can calculate the time of ovulation and choose the opportunity of conception by measuring the body temperature during the ovulation period.

Self-testing with ovulation test strips Ovulation test strips predict ovulation by detecting the peak level of luteinizing hormone (LH). Within 24 to 48 hours before a woman ovulates, the luteinizing hormone (LH) in her urine will reach a peak level, and the result of self-testing with an ovulation test strip will show a positive result. The specific testing method is usually explained on the ovulation test paper packaging (you must strictly follow the instructions to minimize errors). Unlike early pregnancy test strips, morning urine cannot be used, and urine samples should be collected at the same time every day as much as possible. Water intake should be reduced 2 hours before collecting urine, because diluted urine samples will also hinder the detection of LH peak. For those with regular menstrual cycles, you should measure for six consecutive days, starting from 14 days before your period (that is, the expected ovulation time), on the three days before and the three days after your period. If your menstrual cycle is irregular or abnormal, you should generally start measuring on the third day after your period ends. When the two lines on the test paper are the same depth or the second line is darker than the first, it means that ovulation will occur within 24 to 48 hours. For other test results, please refer to the diagram in the instruction manual.

The basal body temperature method is to measure your body temperature immediately after waking up early in the morning without any activity. This temperature is called "basal body temperature." Mark the basal body temperature measured every day on graph paper. Women with regular ovulation periods may find that the basal body temperature is often lower than 36.5 degrees Celsius about two weeks before ovulation, and higher than 36.5 degrees Celsius about two weeks after ovulation. That is, in a month, a bidirectional curve appears with the basal body temperature being low at first and high at the end. The day when this bidirectional curve starts to rise is the ovulation period. Since the two ovaries ovulate alternately, it usually takes at least three months of measurement to truly understand the ovulation status of both ovaries.

The ovulation period can be calculated by measuring body temperature. In addition, there are other ways to estimate the ovulation period, such as using the menstrual cycle to estimate the ovulation period, but this varies from person to person, so be sure to remember your menstrual cycle. You can also infer the ovulation period by using changes in cervical mucus, but this requires professionals and equipment. It is highly accurate but relatively inconvenient.
