The hip bone is the bone in the waist of the body, consisting of two parts, upper and lower. When young, the hip bone is divided into the ilium, sciatic nerve, and toes and their cartilaginous connections. As adults, the cartilage in the middle of their bodies will ossify and become a whole, the hip bone. The left hip bone, right hip bone, sacrum, coccyx and the bony connections between them together make up the pelvis. The hip bone and femoral head form the hip joint. The hip bone is the largest irregular flat bone in the body.

Five common causes of hip pain in women

1. Arthritis Chronic hip pain in women is usually caused by arthritis, especially osteoarthritis, which affects many people as they age. "The ball and socket joint starts to break down," Siegrist says. Because the joint can become stiff or swollen, arthritis pain is often felt in the front of the thigh or groin.

2. Hip fracture Hip fracture is very common in middle-aged women, especially those with osteoporosis (reduced bone density within normal range). Symptoms of a hip fracture include pain when you straighten your leg, bend your knee, or stand on your leg. In addition, there will be some symptoms on the toe of your injured toe, which are signals that can help doctors make a preliminary diagnosis.

3. Tendonitis and bursitis There are many tendons around the hip joint that connect the muscles to the joints. These tendons are prone to inflammation with excessive use or strenuous activity. Hip Tendonitis One of the most common causes of hip pain, especially among runners, is iliotibial band syndrome - the thick band of tissue that runs from the outside edge of the pelvis to the sides of the knee.

4. Hernias in the groin Femoral and inguinal hernias, sometimes called sports hernias, can cause anterior (frontal) hip pain in women. Pregnant women are more susceptible to inguinal hernias due to increased pressure on the inguinal wall.

5. Gynecological and back problems Women's hip pain may have gynecological reasons. The key is not to assume that hip pain is caused by arthritis, bursitis or tendonitis.
