Should I go to the emergency room or outpatient department for childbirth?

The wife will need to be hospitalized for delivery soon. It must be very nervous to become a father soon at this time. For couples who are giving birth for the first time, it is very important to make various preparations for the delivery. Many people are not very familiar with it. So, should I go to the outpatient clinic or the hospital for childbirth?

Generally speaking, giving birth should be done in the obstetrics hospital outpatient department, and at other times you need to go to the obstetrics clinic. The definition of pre-labor is the periodic uterine contraction accompanied by the shortening of the cervical canal and the dilation of the cervical os. Observing the uterine contraction and the dilation of the cervical os can usually distinguish between pre-labor and false labor. Pregnant women need to be hospitalized after entering the active period. If it is not clear whether the patient is in labor, she can stay in the hospital ward for 1-2 hours for evaluation. For high-risk pregnancies, such as those with uterine scars, hypertension and diabetes, and those who live in remote areas, hospitalization conditions should be relaxed to a certain extent. When to give birth in the hospital and in the delivery room, each hospital has different standards and habits. Full-term primiparas have regular uterine contractions, accompanied by cervical dilation ≥ 3cm; placental abruption or primiparas have regular uterine contractions, accompanied by cervical dilation ≥ 2cm, and can give birth in the delivery room.

Steps for hospitalization during childbirth

1. When the mother has regular pain, she is about to give birth.

At this time, the pregnant father and his family should take the mother to the hospital to prepare for the birth of the baby. The father should be prepared with the mother's medical history, pregnancy examination records, and maternity insurance certificate.

2. The mother is clearly about to give birth, and the doctor has issued hospitalization procedures

At this time, the expectant father must prepare the birth permit, identity document or household registration booklet, and hospitalization fees.

3. When the mother enters the delivery room to give birth, the father should prepare the following items:

Mothers and pregnant women need immediate care after giving birth. The first thing to prepare is food. Because the delivery process is strenuous, prepare brown sugar ginger water to help the mother restore her strength. Secondly, prepare the utensils for a good life, including a toothbrush, toothpaste, towels, washbasin, toilet paper, cups, slippers, and frequent changes of underwear.

In addition, a toilet should be prepared as some mothers may experience fecal incontinence. Finally, after the mother gives birth, it is most important to record whether there is any pain, whether the abdominal pain is more severe, if so, inform the doctor in time, it is a sign of abnormal uterine bleeding.

4. After the mother gives birth, she should also prepare some utensils for the newborn baby.

These utensils include diapers or diapers needed by newborns, baby-specific wet wipes, baby clothes, swaddles, and so on. At the same time, remember to let the newborn suck milk immediately so that the milk can be released immediately.
