A woman with a mole on her thigh

There are small black spots in the pores of the skin at the base of the thigh. This may be keratosis pilaris, a diffuse follicular keratosis. It is characterized by a small keratin plug inside the hair follicle mouth or a keratinized papule as large as a needle tube and consistent with the skin pores, accompanied by varying degrees of erythema around the hair follicles. However, it is best to go to a local regular hospital immediately and ask the doctor to conduct a detailed examination to further confirm the diagnosis and then treat it according to the doctor's advice.

Keratosis pilaris symptoms

1. Multiple needle-sized keratosis pilaris papules, mainly distributed on the arms, thighs and buttocks, sometimes with facial damage, especially in children.

2. The harm is generally more significant in winter and improves in summer. The cause of the disease is unclear and may be related to autosomal dominant genes.

3. Because the interface of the hair follicle sebaceous gland duct is keratinized, the so-called "keratin plug" is formed, and the hardening will cause the skin pores to be blocked.

4. The appearance of the small rashes is like pinholes, scattered and distributed, with skin color, light brown or dark brown in color. Most of the small papules are insignificant.

5. The appearance is very similar to "goose bumps", which are thick and like sandpaper. They feel rough and look very eye-catching, but goose bumps are caused by the contraction of arrector pili muscles due to climate, mood, etc., which is a temporary skin change; while the papules caused by keratosis pilaris are a persistent condition.

6. It is often seen on the patient's cheeks, arms, and thighs, some with red spots, and sometimes in severe cases, it spreads to the back and other sebaceous gland-rich areas. Small rashes and red spots may appear on the injured skin.

7. When the papules are small, they mostly appear as black spots. When the papules are large, they appear as small thorns, which often gather together to form large papular patches. When you touch the wound, you will feel the texture of teeth.

8. In addition, some patients may also develop milky white papules in their mouths. Fingernails may also change, with white and red lines appearing.
