· Interesting stories · According to legend, in ancient times, there were two scholars who went to Beijing to take the imperial examination. They were afraid of missing the exam date, so they kept on traveling under the scorching sun, feeling hot and tired. One of them was too tired and suddenly had a nosebleed (epistaxis). He tore off a piece of cloth to plug his nostrils, but the bleeding continued. In the wilderness, there was no doctor or medicine. The two were anxious and helpless. When they didn't know what to do, they saw a white crane flying over in the sky in the distance with green grass in its mouth. When it flew over their heads, the white crane opened its mouth intentionally or unintentionally, and the green grass it held slowly fell down, just in front of the two. The scholar with a nosebleed was thirsty, so he picked up the fresh grass and put it in his mouth to chew. Strangely enough, after a while, the nosebleed stopped. The two of them had no worries and continued on their way. The scholar with a nosebleed was also fine all the way and did not have a nosebleed again. They arrived in Beijing as they wished and took the exam on time. As a result, both of them were lucky enough to pass the exam. After that, the two talked about the chance encounter of getting fresh herbs in the mountains and wild ridges to cure diseases on the way to the exam. They both wondered how to find the herb that can stop bleeding again. They also asked many doctors, but none of them knew. Later, they met a very knowledgeable farmer, and described the characteristics of the herb to the farmer, saying that the herb had feather-like leaves on the stem. After describing and drawing, and communicating in detail, the farmer went to the field to find a herb. After taking it, I saw that the herb had feather-like leaves on a tall stem, which were odd (odd pinnate compound leaves) and were blooming beautiful yellow flowers. The farmer said that the local people knew that this herb was useful, and patients could take it to replenish weakness and it did have a hemostatic effect. It was this! The two wealthy scholars finally found the herb they had encountered before. It was a coincidence that in order to commemorate the fact that the herb was brought by a crane, they named it "Crane Grass". Crane grass, also known as dragon bud grass, debility grass, wolf tooth grass, golden top dragon tooth, yellow dragon tail, hairy foot grass, is mainly produced in Hubei, Zhejiang and Jiangsu. It was first recorded in the "Compendium of Materia Medica": "It treats women's menstruation before or after, red and white vaginal discharge, and red and white bloody dysentery." "Compendium of Materia Medica" says that crane grass "treats food stagnation, dissipates fullness in the middle, and relieves gas, treats various diseases such as vomiting blood, stomach upset, dysphagia, malaria, throat paralysis, sprains, intestinal wind bleeding, metrorrhagia, food accumulation, jaundice, furuncle, carbuncle, lung abscess, breast abscess, and hemorrhoids." In clinical Chinese medicine, it is used for various bleeding diseases, such as hemoptysis due to pulmonary tuberculosis, vomiting blood, hematuria, blood in stool, hemorrhoid bleeding, metrorrhagia, intestinal wind bleeding, and bleeding from falls and trauma. Crane grass is often used together with pollen, white grass root, and cirsium to treat bleeding. Herba Agrimoniae also has a strengthening effect. When boiled with jujube, it can relieve fatigue and weakness caused by overwork, and can relieve fatigue and weakness in patients with normal appetite. Modern pharmacological research has confirmed that Herba Agrimoniae water extract has the effects of regulating immunity, inhibiting tumor cell proliferation, and killing insects. · Source of medicinal materials · The dried above-ground part of the Rosaceae plant Agrimoniae.
