Fungal otitis

Fungal otitis

Fungal otitis is an ear disease caused by fungi such as Candida, and is mainly manifested by symptoms such as itching in the ear canal, increased secretions, and hearing loss. The treatment methods for fungal otitis mainly include drug treatment and lifestyle adjustment.

1. Drug treatment: Antifungal drugs are the main method for treating fungal otitis, including topical and oral medications.

- Topical medications: such as clotrimazole cream, miconazole cream, etc. These drugs can act directly on the ear canal to inhibit the growth and reproduction of fungi. When using topical medications, you need to apply the medication to the outside of the affected ear and the ear canal opening 2-3 times a day for about 7-14 days to achieve the therapeutic effect.

- Oral medication: such as fluconazole tablets, itraconazole capsules, etc. These drugs work in the body after oral administration, inhibiting the growth and reproduction of fungi. The course of oral medication for fungal otitis is generally 3-7 days, depending on the severity of the disease.

2. Adjustment of lifestyle habits: In addition to drug treatment, you also need to pay attention to the following points to prevent and assist in the treatment of fungal otitis.

- Avoid inserting cotton swabs or other objects into the ear canal to avoid irritating the ear canal skin or damaging the eardrum.

- Avoid water entering the ear canal when swimming or bathing. Use earplugs to protect your ears.

- Pay attention to personal hygiene and wash headphones, ear pads and other items frequently.

In terms of treatment effect, the symptoms of most patients with fungal otitis can be significantly relieved or disappear after standardized treatment. However, some patients may have repeated attacks or prolonged illness, which may be related to personal immunity, lifestyle and other factors. Therefore, during the treatment process, patients should follow the doctor's advice, take medicine on time, and pay attention to adjusting their lifestyle and improving their immunity to promote recovery from the disease.

In short, the treatment of fungal otitis requires comprehensive consideration of both medication and lifestyle adjustments to achieve the best treatment effect. At the same time, patients should maintain a good attitude, actively face the disease, and cooperate with the doctor's treatment recommendations in order to recover soon.
