Exercise prescription for heart disease

Exercise prescription for heart disease

Traditionally, people with heart disease should rest, especially after a myocardial infarction, when exercise was once considered taboo. In fact, stent surgery only completes half of the treatment of myocardial infarction, while the other half is long-term drug therapy and cardiac rehabilitation. According to a survey of 8,440 patients with coronary heart disease in the United States, the mortality rate of those who received rehabilitation treatment was reduced by 31% compared with those who did not receive rehabilitation treatment.

Cardiac rehabilitation, especially exercise rehabilitation, is not a new thing. Different heart disease patients have different treatment methods and focuses according to the type and severity of the disease.

Do you think you can't exercise because you have a bad heart? In fact, exercise is also a way to assist in the treatment of heart disease. However, the amount of exercise should not be too much, and the intensity should be moderate. Here are several exercise methods to assist in the treatment of heart disease.

1. If you are physically able, exercise by skipping rope with low intensity .

Or you can try to straighten your knees and walk with big steps, which are good for blood circulation and enhance heart function.

2. Perform abdominal breathing .

In our daily natural breathing, the abdomen retracts when we inhale, and expands when we exhale. Abdominal breathing is different. The specific method is to maintain an upright posture or lie flat on the bed, and while inhaling quickly through the nose, use the lower abdomen to move the air to the abdomen to expand it, and then slowly exhale from the mouth while relaxing the abdomen. This is considered a complete process. Note that you should inhale quickly and exhale slowly, and use force in the lower abdomen. People with hard abdomens may not be able to do it smoothly at the beginning, but don't be discouraged. It doesn't matter if you take a short break in the middle. As long as you practice it repeatedly with patience, you will gradually become proficient.

3. Abdominal muscle exercises .

Lie on your back with your toes resting on a cabinet drawer or chair, then do a few sit-ups to strengthen your abdominal muscles.

4. Exercise for 30 minutes every day.

Ensure that you have mild breathlessness caused by exercise at least 3 times a week. Research results have shown that exercise can at least bring the following benefits to the heart: improve blood cholesterol levels; prevent blood clotting; maintain lower blood pressure and prevent hypertension; maintain a healthy weight; and facilitate early recovery after heart disease.

5. Strengthen leg exercises .

Make sure to do aerobic exercise that increases blood flow to the heart (such as brisk walking, jogging or cycling) 3-4 times a week for 30 minutes each time to strengthen heart muscle function.

Reminder: After each exercise, if you feel tired the next morning, your heart rate increases or decreases, your blood pressure is abnormal, and your exercise capacity decreases, it means that you have exercised too much. If you cannot talk freely due to shortness of breath, sweat a lot, have palpitations, and look pale during exercise, it may be that the exercise intensity is too high and you should stop exercising. In addition, you should warm up before exercise and clean up after exercise. In winter, you should pay attention to keeping warm, do not take a shower immediately after exercise, and make sure to replenish water.

Thank you for your attention and support!
