Painful urination after episiotomy

Painful urination after episiotomy

During the natural delivery process, if the fetus is too large and it is difficult to choose a natural delivery, the midwife will perform an episiotomy on the woman's perineum, which can speed up the entire delivery process. There will be a little pain in the episiotomy wound, and the stitches are usually removed about 5 days after giving birth. So why does it hurt to urinate after an episiotomy? What should I do if my urine falls down and hurts after an episiotomy?

It is painful to urinate through an episiotomy wound because the wound has not yet healed completely. Therefore, during the healing period of the wound, it is not advisable to exert too much force whether it is defecation or urination. And the wound should be cleaned every day to prevent inflammation and infection which may make wound healing difficult. After the episiotomy, sutures are performed on the wound site. Generally, everyone will feel much more relaxed after the stitches are removed. Before the stitches are removed, pregnant women can exercise moderately, but excessive exercise is not suitable, as it will make it difficult to remove the stitches.

Episiotomy wounds are very common during vaginal delivery. After the operation, you should pay more attention to vaginal bleeding, rest more, and recover your body as soon as possible. Choosing a natural birth will cause great damage to a woman's body heat and function, so postpartum recovery takes a certain amount of time. Some women take 50 days of confinement, while others take a month. The actual time depends on each person's physical condition. During the confinement period, while maintaining fresh air, you should avoid wind, which will cause various joint diseases and will be very difficult to treat.

For pregnant women, choosing natural birth will cause less harm to the body. After all, there is no need for surgery, and the body can recover faster after giving birth. However, there are some disadvantages to choosing natural childbirth. For example, most pregnant women will have lacerations when they choose natural childbirth, or the doctor will perform episiotomy on the pregnant woman in advance. What should I do if I choose vaginal delivery and the wound hurts when I urinate?

The lacerations or episiotomy wounds from natural childbirth take some time to heal. The pain in the wound when urinating after giving birth proves that the wound has not healed. At this time, pregnant women should pay attention to wound care to prevent infection. You can use a diluted potassium permanganate solution to clean the wound, and then dry it in the sun after cleaning. It is best to wash it in the rain instead of taking a sitz bath to prevent cross infection.

After the wound has healed for a few days, the potassium permanganate solution can be replaced with saline for cleaning, which has a very good effect in removing bacteria and reducing inflammation. However, you still need to pay attention to the method when cleaning. You must clean the wound first, then clean the surrounding skin tissue to prevent the salt water from being contaminated.

While caring for the wound, you should also pay attention to the daily cleaning of underwear and insist on changing underwear every day. Dirty underwear should be cleaned with soap, scalded with hot water, and then hung outdoors to dry. And be careful not to wear tight underwear and clothes, and make sure the clothes are breathable and comfortable, which is more conducive to the healing of the wound.
