Dosage

Si Shen Wan is generally a water pill preparation and should be taken with light salt water or warm water.

Liushen Pills are usually very small pills made with ethanol, which are swallowed with warm water. It can also be used externally, applied to the red and swollen parts of the skin. Take dozens of pills, dissolve them in a container with a little cold boiled water or rice vinegar, and apply them around the affected area several times a day, keeping it moist until the swelling subsides. If the red and swollen area has pus or ulcers, it can no longer be applied externally.

It should be noted that the toad venom and realgar in Liushen Pills are toxic and should be taken orally in strict accordance with the instructions of the medicine or under the guidance of a professional physician or pharmacist. In addition, the musk in Liushen Pills has the effect of promoting blood circulation and removing blood stasis, so it is forbidden for pregnant women and athletes to use with caution.

Although the names of the two "magic pills" differ by only one character, their efficacy and indications are quite different. Sishen Pills are mainly used to treat diarrhea caused by spleen and kidney yang deficiency, while Liushen Pills are mainly used to treat sore throat caused by internal heat and toxicity. You must distinguish them clearly when using them.
