It is mainly used to treat fatigue, food stagnation, thin muscles and sallow face, shortness of breath and fatigue, abdominal pain and loose stools, cramps and pain in the limbs, irritability, cough and asthma, sore throat, swollen and painful carbuncles, fetal toxicity in children, and drug and food poisoning. It is used for spleen and stomach deficiency and cold, fatigue, shortness of breath, cough with sputum, cramps and pain in the abdomen and limbs, carbuncles and sores, and to reduce the toxic and potent side effects of drugs. Pregnant women can take it, but it is not recommended. Because the Chinese herbal medicine licorice not only has the effect of resolving phlegm, but also has the effect of inducing labor. Taking it can easily cause miscarriage, premature birth, etc. Therefore, pregnant women should eat it with caution.

Can pregnant women eat Bauhinia bark?

Bauhinia bark is described in "Bencao Gangmu" as the dried root of the legume plant Bauhinia. Bauhinia (Bencao Gangmu), also known as: Man Tiao Hong (Qunfangpu), black mulberry, bamboo basket tree, Longchuan pan, flat-headed old man, is a deciduous tree or large shrub. It grows alone in the mountains or is planted in gardens and is distributed in most parts of the country.

The roots are cylindrical, grooved or irregular pieces, curled inward, about 6-25cm long, 3cm wide and 3-6mm thick. The surface is gray-brown, rough, wrinkled, and often scale-like; the inner surface is dark purple-brown, or brown-red, with fine longitudinal lines. The texture is solid, not easy to break, and the cross section is gray-brown-red. When viewed against sunlight, tiny flashes can be seen. No smell, taste astringent.

Bauhinia bark and Poria cocos effects: bitter; flat. Enters the liver meridian and spleen meridian. It has the effects of promoting blood circulation and removing blood stasis, and removing toxins. It is used for female menstrual disorders, abdominal pain caused by blood stasis, rheumatic pain, painful urination, throat numbness, carbuncle, scabies, bruises, and snake and insect bites.

Bauhinia bark has the effect of promoting blood circulation and removing blood stasis, and pregnant women cannot eat it.
