Prenatal check-ups during pregnancy are very important. Medical instruments can be used to see the development of the fetus, helping mothers to see the growth and development of their babies. They can also help doctors to have a simple understanding of the fetus's condition and to easily identify symptoms or other problems of the fetus. Let’s take a look at whether B-ultrasound has any effect on the fetus. From the analysis of the basic principles of B-ultrasound, B-ultrasound is ultrasonic transmission, there is no electromagnetic radiation and electromagnetic radiation, it is a sound wave frequency transmission, this kind of sound wave frequency has no harm to body tissues; but if the sound wave frequency is concentrated in a fixed area and concentrated for a long time, it will produce thermoelectric effect. When this thermoelectric effect reaches a certain level, it may have adverse effects on body tissues and affect the substances in cells, including chromosomes. Theoretically, high-intensity ultrasound waves can cause damage to tissues due to their high temperature and cavitation effect on tissues. However, in reality, the B-ultrasound used in medicine is of low intensity, less than 94 mW/dm3, which is harmless to the fetus. So far, there has been no report of B-ultrasound examinations causing fetal malformations. At present, the B-ultrasound examinations used in obstetrics in hospitals are safe for fetuses. However, this does not mean that B-ultrasound examinations can be done at will throughout the pregnancy without time and frequency restrictions. In the past, scholars have conducted such an experiment, performing B-ultrasound direct exposure to the lens and cornea of both eyes of fetuses from 11 to 12 weeks old, and found that those that had not been exposed had no effect, those that had been exposed for 5 minutes had slight edema of the cornea or lens, and those that had been exposed for 10 minutes had more severe edema than those that had been exposed for 5 minutes, but the edema was reversible and recovered after the exposure was stopped. If the exposure time exceeds 20 minutes, the changes will be irreversible. Therefore, some experts and scholars suggest that the duration of a B-ultrasound should not exceed five minutes. |
