How to use oseltamivir dry suspension, an anti-influenza virus drug? Pharmacists can help you

Oseltamivir is one of the most effective drugs for treating influenza virus infection and is also the most commonly used. In addition to capsules and granules, oseltamivir is also available in dry suspension. So how to use oseltamivir dry suspension? The pharmacist will show you in detail.

Step 1: Prepare oseltamivir phosphate suspension <br /> The materials required are as follows:

Ø Medicines containing oseltamivir phosphate dry suspension powder (already in the medicine packaging)

Ø Bottle cap (already in the drug packaging)

Ø Plastic plug (already in the drug packaging)

Ø Plastic measuring cup (already in the medicine packaging)

Ø Water

The steps are as follows:

① Pat the bottle to loosen the powder .

②Use a measuring cup to take 55ml of water (room temperature water is recommended).
③After adding full amount of water into the medicine bottle , tighten the bottle cap and shake it in horizontal circles for 15 seconds to fully mix and disperse the medicine powder. Avoid shaking the bottle up and down or violently oscillating it to produce excessive foam.

Note! Regardless of the amount you take, you need to add 55 ml of water into the bottle.

④ Unscrew the bottle cap and press the plastic plug into the neck of the glass bottle (the plug will not be removed later).
⑤Tighten the bottle cap again

From now on, the preparation of oseltamivir phosphate suspension has been completed!

Step 2: Measure and take the correct dose <br /> Preparation:

Ø A bottle of prepared oseltamivir phosphate suspension (prepared according to the above steps);

Ø Prepare a 3ml or 10ml dispenser (both are included in the drug package) according to the dosage required. If the required dosage is 1ml to 3ml, use a 3ml dispenser; if the required dosage is 3ml to 10ml, use a 10ml dispenser.

The steps to take the medicine are as follows:

①Shake the bottle to mix the medicine

Note! Shake before each use.

②Prepare the applicator

Depending on the dose you need to take, take a 3ml (small) or 10ml (large) dispenser.

Push the plunger to the tip of the applicator.

③Measure the accurate dose

Unscrew the bottle cap and insert the pointed tip of the applicator into the plastic plug;

Turn the bottle and dispenser upside down together;

Gently pull the push rod outward to draw the liquid medicine into the applicator;

Pull to the corresponding scale according to the dosage to be taken;

Return the bottle and dispenser to their original position;

Remove the applicator from the bottle.

④ Taking medicine

Place the applicator directly into the child's mouth and gently push the plunger to ensure that all the medicine is swallowed.

You can eat normally after taking the medicine.

⑤ Tighten the bottle cap and keep out of the reach of children away from light

Attention! Clean the applicator after administration.

Pull out the push rod of the applicator and clean the two parts of the applicator separately with running water.

About preservation

The prepared suspension should be refrigerated and stored at 2℃-8℃ for no more than 17 days and should not be frozen; or stored at 25℃ (short-term storage at 15-30℃ is allowed) for no more than 10 days.
