Promote Chinese medicine

Promote Chinese medicine

March 17th is the Chinese National Medical Day, and this year is the 94th. The Chinese National Medical Day, also known as the National Medical Day, is a holiday set up to commemorate the victory against the abolition of traditional medicine and the total negation of traditional Chinese medicine, and to hope that traditional Chinese medicine can be promoted in China and even the world for the benefit of mankind.

Traditional Chinese medicine is a treasure of the Chinese nation and the crystallization of the wisdom of our ancestors. It has thousands of years of history and brilliant achievements. The Yellow Emperor's Classic of Internal Medicine states that "the best doctor treats the disease before it occurs, the middle doctor treats the disease before it occurs, and the lowest doctor treats the disease after it occurs", which means that the most skilled doctor is not the one who is good at treating diseases, but the one who can prevent diseases. It can be seen that traditional Chinese medicine has always emphasized prevention over treatment. In the face of a variety of modern diseases, as well as the increasingly younger age of onset and the increasing number of sub-healthy people, using traditional Chinese medicine for health preservation, health care, and rehabilitation is undoubtedly the most appropriate way.

Rehabilitation medicine is a medical discipline that promotes the rehabilitation of disabled people and patients. In the modern medical system, prevention, treatment, and rehabilitation are interconnected and form a unified whole. In rehabilitation treatment, Chinese medicine has a long history and a broad mass base. Chinese medicine rehabilitation methods are simple, safe, and easy to promote and apply.

Traditional Chinese medicine rehabilitation is guided by the holistic concept and syndrome differentiation and treatment of traditional Chinese medicine, based on the theory of yin and yang and the five elements, the theory of meridians, the theory of etiology and pathogenesis, etc. It adopts comprehensive methods such as acupuncture, massage, traditional health massage, acupoint application, diet therapy, emotional therapy, etc., so that the sick and disabled can compensate for their lost functions to the maximum extent, partially or completely restore the ability to take care of themselves and participate in activities or work within their capacity, so that they can recover to the maximum extent in physical, psychological, occupational and social activities, fully participate in social life, improve the quality of life, and share the fruits of social and economic development with healthy people.

Under the guidance of the holistic concept and the idea of syndrome differentiation and treatment, TCM rehabilitation focuses on holistic and reasonable rehabilitation, emphasizes the three factors, namely, adapting to the person, the time and the place, and pays attention to the role of psychological, social and environmental factors in rehabilitation. This is in line with the transformation of the modern "bio-psycho-social" medical model. Therefore, TCM rehabilitation theory and methods are welcomed by more and more people. If Chinese and Western medical rehabilitation methods can penetrate and complement each other, the rehabilitation effect can be greatly improved. In terms of specific rehabilitation methods, such as integrating traditional Chinese medical rehabilitation methods such as massage and Tai Chi into modern exercise therapy; adding acupuncture, acupoint application and other rehabilitation methods to modern physical therapy; adding Chinese painting and other rehabilitation methods to modern occupational therapy; adding Qigong treatment to modern psychological therapy. The organic combination of Chinese and Western rehabilitation therapies can improve the rehabilitation effect to a greater extent and promote the development of Chinese rehabilitation medicine. This is also an inevitable trend in the development of rehabilitation medicine in China and even the world.
