Picture of 22-week fetus in the womb

After 12 weeks of pregnancy, a woman can check the B-ultrasound to see the presence of a fetus in the uterine cavity, with a relatively large head and a slightly small body. Because the baby can move freely in the uterine cavity, the baby can lie in the belly, stand, squat, or even lie flat in the belly directly. There is no reason for the baby to lie in the belly. This is just the normal position of the baby. Moreover, all the movements of the baby in the uterine cavity occur spontaneously without any external causes.

Before 28 weeks of pregnancy, due to the high amount of amniotic fluid, the fetus is relatively small, and the fetus has a larger space to move in the uterus, so the position and posture of the fetus are easy to change. After 32 weeks of pregnancy, the fetus grows and develops rapidly, the amniotic fluid of the pregnant woman decreases relatively, and the fetus's range of activity in the uterus also becomes smaller. At this time, the fetus is close to the endometrium, and the position and posture of the fetus are relatively stable. The posture of the fetus in the uterine cavity is generally with its head lowered, chin close to the sternum, limbs folded in front of the chest, and lying in the belly, which is to adapt to the size of the uterus.

During pregnancy, the fetus survives and moves in the amniotic fluid of the mother's uterine cavity. In the sixth month of pregnancy (late pregnancy), because the amniotic fluid flow in the amniotic cavity is relatively large, the fetus has a larger range of movement in the uterine cavity, and the fetal position is not fixed. The position of the fetus in the mother's uterine cavity may change at any time and anywhere. After 28 weeks of pregnancy, the position of the fetus in the mother's uterine cavity will be relatively fixed. After 32 weeks, the fetal position will be fixed and generally will not change.
