Counterpoint: In Q2 2024, Apple iPhone 15 ranked first with a sales share of 4.1%

According to the latest list of the world's best-selling smartphones in the second quarter of 2024 released by Counterpoint, Apple ranked first, second, third and sixth with four models: iPhone 15, iPhone 15 Pro Max, iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 14 , which also shows the continued appeal and high demand of the iPhone worldwide.

Specifically, the iPhone 15, thanks to its outstanding performance and innovative design, topped the list with a sales share of 4.1%, becoming the best-selling smartphone of the season.

Closely following are the iPhone 15 Pro Max and iPhone 15 Pro, ranking second and third with sales shares of 3.7% and 3.1% respectively, further consolidating Apple's dominance in the high-end market.

Excluding the four seats occupied by Apple iPhone, Samsung occupies five of the remaining six seats, with Galaxy A15 5G, Galaxy A15 4G, Galaxy A55, Galaxy S24 Ultra and Galaxy A05 occupying the fourth, fifth, seventh, ninth and tenth places respectively. Among the domestic brands, only Xiaomi "broke into the siege" and ranked eighth.

Compared with the second quarter of 2023, the ranking of Apple's current models has not changed, but the iPhone 13 ranks fourth with a share of 2.6%, while the iPhone 14 in the second quarter of 2024 ranks sixth with a share of only 1.6%, ahead of Samsung Galaxy A15 4G and A15 5G.

It is worth noting that although the iPhone 15 series was released as a new product, its popularity did not completely overshadow the older iPhone models. The iPhone 14 still ranked among the top six with a sales share of 1.6%, showing that Apple's older models have advantages in cost-effectiveness and stability, and are still favored by many consumers.

At the same time, CIRP's latest research report shows that the popularity of older iPhone models has increased. The reason is that these models are relatively stable in terms of performance, camera quality and system update support, and have successfully attracted a large number of budget-conscious consumers and users seeking cost-effectiveness.

However, as the popularity of older iPhones has increased, the average quarterly selling price of Apple products has also declined accordingly.

Market analysts pointed out that although this phenomenon has affected Apple's revenue and profits to a certain extent, it has also brought it a wider user base and increased market share. Apple needs to adjust its market strategy more flexibly in the face of market changes to balance the needs of the high-end market and the cost-effective market.

In addition, Counterpoint also showed that global smartphone sales in the second quarter of 2024 increased by 6% year-on-year, the highest growth rate since 2021. The top five in global smartphone sales market share are Samsung, Apple, Xiaomi, vivo and OPPO.

Canalys data also showed that global smartphone shipments in the second quarter increased by 12% year-on-year to 288.9 million units, achieving double-digit growth.

IDC data showed that shipments increased by 6.5% year-on-year to 285.4 million units, which also indicated a market recovery. It is not difficult to see that with the active response of manufacturers, the continuous improvement of the market environment, and changes in consumer sentiment and inventory conditions, the global smartphone market has achieved significant growth.

Senior analysts said that the global smartphone market has entered an era of relatively stable sales growth due to the extension of mobile phone replacement cycles, and smartphone sales are expected to grow slowly in the next few years.
