Canalys: Global shipments of personal smart audio devices will exceed 90 million units in Q1 2024, up 6% year-on-year

The latest data from Canalys shows that in the first quarter of 2024, the global personal smart audio device market showed signs of recovery, with a year-on-year growth of 6% and shipments exceeding 90 million units. It is reported that this growth is mainly due to the strong performance of wireless Bluetooth headsets (TWS) and wireless headphones, with shipments of the two increasing by 8% and 12% respectively.

Judging from the shipment volume of TWS headset brands, despite a year-on-year decline of 8%, Apple still ranks first with a market share of 24%.

By entering the low-end and mid-range market and launching products priced as low as US$15, Xiaomi surpassed Samsung and became the world's second largest manufacturer. Its market share reached 8%, a year-on-year increase of 61%.

Another Chinese brand, Huawei, ranked fourth with a market share of 5%, a year-on-year increase of 71%.

Canalys said that the OWS market represented by open-design TWS is rising rapidly, with the characteristics of a relaxed competition landscape and huge enhancement potential. The OWS market will become the key to reshaping the market.
