IDC: China's tablet market shipments in 2022 will increase by 5.2% year-on-year

According to the latest International Data Corporation (IDC) tablet quarterly tracking report, in the fourth quarter of 2022, China's tablet computer market shipments were approximately 8.66 million units, a year-on-year increase of approximately 16.7%, of which the consumer market increased by 25.8% year-on-year and the commercial market decreased by 40.3% year-on-year.

China's tablet market shipments to continue growing in 2022

In 2022, China's tablet market shipments increased by 5.2% year-on-year, marking four consecutive years of growth since 2019.

Gan Miao, senior research manager of IDC China, said : China's tablet computer industry is still in an upward development cycle. The reason why it achieved year-on-year growth in shipments in the complex and changeable environment in 2022 is mainly because the changes in the macro-environment have accelerated the popularization of tablet computers. At the same time, the key technological innovations brought about by the mobile phone supply chain and the determination of mainstream mobile phone brands to fully participate in the tablet computer market have also promoted the overall growth of China's tablet computer market.

Development of China's tablet market in 2022

In 2022, the specific market share and changes of the top five manufacturers in China's tablet computer market are as follows :

Judging from the overall price trend of tablet computers in the fourth quarter of 2022, although manufacturers took advantage of Double Eleven to carry out promotional activities in advance, the average unit price of China's tablet computer market in the fourth quarter of 2022 increased by 1.7% month-on-month due to the growth in shipments in the mid-to-high-priced segments of brand manufacturers such as Apple and the influence of multiple factors such as international exchange rates.

In terms of price segments, the changes in China's tablet market in the fourth quarter of 2022 compared with the same period showed that the market capacity of products less than 1K and 2K-3K declined, while the share of 1K-2K mainstream brand products and mid-to-high-end products above 3K increased.

In the fourth quarter of 2022, the overall Chinese tablet computer market grew by approximately 16.7% year-on-year, and achieved a year-on-year growth of approximately 5.2% for the whole year of 2022.
