IDC: China's wristband market shipments in Q3 2022 were 3.89 million units, down 15.6% year-on-year

A few years ago, smart bracelets became the first wearable smart device for many people because they were cheap, lightweight, and could count steps, measure heart rate, and monitor sleep.

But with the further popularization of smart watches, more and more people are beginning to abandon smart bracelets and buy smart watches instead.

Recently, research firm IDC released the "China Wearable Device Market Quarterly Tracking Report, Q3 2022". In the third quarter of 2022, China's wearable device market shipments were 32.29 million units, a year-on-year decrease of 8.4%.

Among them, the wristband market shipped 3.89 million units in the third quarter of 2022, a year-on-year decrease of 15.6%. Although the new Xiaomi wristband has played a certain role in increasing the shipment scale, the wristband is still in an irreversible downward channel, and many manufacturers have even given up the smart wristband business.

Analysts believe that the continued decline in the bracelet market is on the one hand affected by the diminishing marginal effect of the trial experience of entry-level wristband products, and on the other hand it is also the result of watch products being gradually accepted by the public.

Smartwatch shipments in the third quarter of 2022 were 10.8 million units, up 1.8% year-on-year, of which adult smartwatches were 5.38 million units, up 13.3% year-on-year , and children's smartwatch shipments were 5.42 million units, down 7.6% year-on-year.

In the third quarter of 2022, the shipment volume of ear-worn devices was 17.53 million units, a year-on-year decrease of 12.1%. Among them, the shipment volume of true wireless headphones was 13.65 million units, a year-on-year decrease of 11.8%.
