CINNO: China's smartphone sales in the first quarter of 2020 were only about 50 million units, a year-on-year decrease of 44.5%

According to CINNO Research's monthly domestic mobile phone sales monitoring data, in the first quarter of 2020 , affected by the epidemic, domestic smartphone sales were only about 50 million units, a sharp year-on-year decrease of 44.5% , which is basically similar to the forecast data in the monthly mobile phone market briefing released by CINNO Research in February that " smartphone sales in the first quarter are expected to drop by 50% year-on-year. "

The top three sales in the first quarter were Huawei (including Honor), OPPO (including realme ), and vivo (including IQOO ). Their total shipments accounted for 75.2% of the domestic smartphone market .

CINNO Research's monthly Chinese mobile phone sales monitoring data shows that in March 2020, the sales volume of smartphones in the Chinese market was approximately 19 million units, a year-on-year decrease of 39% and a month-on-month increase of 122% . The sales volume in March has reached about 60% of the sales volume in the same period.

Under the influence of the epidemic, sales of various brands have declined to varying degrees, and their market shares have also changed accordingly. As a major domestic brand, Huawei's sales also fell sharply in the first quarter of 2020 , but the decline was still smaller than that of other brands, causing Huawei's market share to increase from 41.6% in the fourth quarter of 2019 to 48.7% in the first quarter of 2020 , accounting for nearly half of the market.

As the domestic epidemic has been basically controlled, offline stores have begun to restart operations on a large scale, and sales of various brands are recovering rapidly. In March , sales of OPPO and vivo have rebounded significantly.

CINNO Research predicts that despite the continued recovery of the market, domestic smartphone sales in the second quarter of 2020 may still decline by about 20% year-on-year.
