CMO: A comprehensive guide to social media in 2014 – Infographic

Facebook. Twitter. LinkedIn. YouTube.
Are these four social platforms the only things that matter to marketers? If CMO.com’s “CMO Social Media Landscape Map,” now in its fifth year, is any indication, the answer is a clear “maybe.”
While other platforms have come and gone in our annual infographic, Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, and YouTube have been the mainstays since the first ones were launched in 2010. I say “maybe” because it’s as stable as it was when it first hit the social media scene.
For this year's map, CMO.com partnered with data visualization specialist Visual.ly on content and design. In 2014, SlideShare joined the "Big Four," followed in 2013 by Google+, Pinterest, and Instagram, with Instagram making its second appearance since 2012. As in previous years, all platforms were evaluated across four key criteria: SEO, branding, customer communications, and traffic generation, as well as performance compared to the past two years (with the exception of platforms that were not previously included).
