Vulvar itching during pregnancy is sometimes caused by psychological factors, sometimes by external stimuli, and a large number of it is caused by increased female secretions and some damp and cold irritation. What causes vulvar swelling in late pregnancy

1. Vulvar itching caused by mental factors

Medical clinical studies have confirmed that after pregnancy, women will always experience vulvar itching due to some changes in their daily lives, such as a decrease or interruption in sexual life, psychological fear of pregnancy, insomnia, etc.

2. Vulvar itching caused by external irritation

Excessive sweat, humidity, and soaking in the underwear may cause itching in pregnant women; wearing underwear with harder materials or some pregnant women who are allergic to underwear made of certain chemical fibers may also cause itching.

3. Vulvar itching caused by Trichomonas vaginitis

Vulvar itching is a clinical symptom of candidal vaginitis, candidal vaginitis and other diseases.

(1) Candidal vaginitis: Itching and redness of the private parts and vulva, accompanied by dreg-like vaginal discharge and a strong odor. Scratching may cause eczematous changes of the vulvar dermatitis.

(2) Candidal vaginitis: Vulvar itching, foam-like discharge, often accompanied by a unique odor, and eczematous changes of the vulvar dermatitis after scratching. Acid-fast staining of female secretions can be used to distinguish the above samples.

(3) Drug allergy: Women with allergic constitutions may develop fixed drug rashes after taking sulfonamides or other drugs. These rashes often occur at the junction of the vulvar skin and mucosa. In addition to local itching, they may also be complicated by erosion and exudation. Using drugs for vaginal cleaning or vaginal insertion in women, such as allergic symptoms and contact dermatitis, can also cause vulvar itching.

(4) Vulvar skin diseases: The itching caused by vulvar eczema and neurodermatitis is more intense. The former is mainly manifested by papules and blisters with unclear boundaries and erosive exudate on some parts of the skin, while the latter causes thickening of the skin and lichenification due to scratching. In addition to causing local itching, leukoplakia of the vulva often leads to secondary malnutrition of the private parts and skin atrophy.

(5) Viral infection: Genital warts mostly occur on the vaginal wall, cervix and vulva of women, and secretions with a foul odor may also appear. Molluscum contagiosum occurring on the vulva is often manifested as annular papules with an umbilicus-like indentation in the center, and may also cause vulvar itching.

(6) Other reasons: When women suffer from diabetes, due to the irritation of urine sugar on the private skin, they are prone to complications of bacterial private area and vaginitis, causing vulvar itching. When jaundice occurs due to gallbladder, liver and other diseases, vulvar itching may also occur due to the increase of bilirubin in the blood and the irritation of the skin by bile salts.
