What you must know about children accidentally taking pills!!!

Original emergency science AED Dayang

I went to the hospital yesterday and saw this:

A grandmother (or grandmother) was crying and holding a child as she hurried to the emergency room. Behind her was an old man, who should be the child's grandfather (or grandfather). Because he had a little difficulty in walking, he couldn't follow well. Soon he fell behind the child's grandmother (grandmother) for a long distance, but he still followed closely...

The heartache of that scene, I think only parents with children can understand

Later, I vaguely learned that the child was naughty and ate the pills that the old man put on the table!!! Picture picture picture

Another case of acute poisoning!!!

I don’t know what the final outcome of the child’s rescue was, but the scene I saw made me shocked and scared.

I thought of a few things to note and shared them with every family!!!

Friends who see this article, please read it carefully and forward it. It has nothing to do with traffic.

I just hope this article can really help

Every family with children

1. Whenever a child suddenly falls ill or takes pills by mistake, parents should not panic, but call 120 in time and wait for emergency personnel to treat them as much as possible. Before the 120 personnel arrive at the scene, you can use what you have learned or the oral instructions of the 120 operator to perform the correct rescue and race against time with God S!!!

Try not to run around with a child who has fainted or is convulsing, so as to avoid hurting the child's cervical spine or other important body parts during the run, causing secondary injuries or more serious consequences!!!

Second, acute poisoning. In fact, there have been many similar reports before: a child in a certain place mistakenly took adult antihypertensive drugs, hypoglycemic drugs, etc. as "sugar" and ate them. The adults did not find out until X hours later, and the child unfortunately passed away, etc.;

Acute poisoning is one of the most common pediatric critical illnesses and can occur in children of all ages.

So, what should we do if children are acutely poisoned?

First, follow the first rule and be sure to bring the medicine and packaging!!!

At the same time, parents need to make calm judgments, identify symptoms of poisoning in children as soon as possible, and check and record the amount of medicine taken and the time of accidental ingestion.

If the child is still conscious, be sure not to scold the child loudly, because the scolded child will be frightened and it will be difficult for him to tell the truth, which will delay further treatment.

You must also understand the following methods to reduce the absorption of poisons after accidental ingestion:

01. Induce vomiting

The quickest way to eliminate poison in the stomach; under the premise of maintaining the child's vital signs stable, vomiting should be induced as soon as possible to reduce the absorption of poison. Parents can stimulate the child's throat with fingers or tongue depressors to make the child spit out the pills; if there is no vomit, let the child drink a lot of warm water, then stimulate the throat to make him vomit.

This method can also be implemented when professional rescue personnel have not arrived.

However, vomiting is only suitable for children who have been poisoned for a short period of time and are conscious.

Do not induce vomiting if the child is comatose, in convulsions, in shock, or has no gagging reflex.

02. Gastric lavage

The most thorough method to eliminate poisons in the stomach; the sooner the gastric lavage is performed, the better, and it is usually performed within 4-6 hours of accidental ingestion.

03. Excretion

If a child accidentally takes a low-toxic drug in a small amount, such as a digestive drug, an antipyretic, or an anti-inflammatory drug, you can give the child plenty of warm water to promote drug excretion, and keep an eye on the child's vital signs.

Simple example:

After taking tonic medicine by mistake, you should generally drink plenty of water to dilute the medicine and excrete it through urine.

Do not drink water after accidentally taking effervescent tablets, because a large amount of gas will be produced, which can cause suffocation and death;

After accidentally taking sleeping pills, antihypertensive drugs, hypoglycemic drugs, etc., it is recommended to induce vomiting and seek medical attention as soon as possible.

However, I personally think that the most important thing is prevention!!!

Regarding prevention, please do the following:

01. Parents should keep medicines out of reach of children, preferably locked up. Do not put external medicines or toxic substances in food packaging;

02. Parents should strictly follow the doctor's instructions before children take medicine. In addition, because children have strong imitating ability and can easily imitate adults' actions, do not take medicine in front of children.

03. Don’t trick children into taking medicine by calling it candy (water). Instead, tell them the name and purpose of the medicine.

Otherwise, children may easily confuse the concepts and take the wrong medicine, which may lead to poisoning.

Please rest assured, children nowadays are very smart and they will understand what you say.

Finally, I would like to appeal to all parents and friends: In order for the young people of our country to grow up healthily and vigorously,

Our parenting knowledge must keep pace with the times!!!
