Beware! Five hidden signs of Alzheimer's disease

Beware! Five hidden signs of Alzheimer's disease

Hidden early signs of dementia (Alzheimer's disease):

1. Short-term memory decline. Often can't remember things that happened in front of you or in the short term, such as appointments with others, the current date, and can't remember them even after repeated reminders. People who are good at cooking start to have trouble controlling the heat, saltiness, and other details of life.

2. Changes in temperament and decreased interest. For example, a person who was originally mild-tempered may become irritable and angry for no reason, or may become indifferent, confused, and suspicious. It can also be manifested as a person who loves cleanliness becoming dirty and sloppy, or becoming reluctant to go out and lacking interest in activities that he used to do.

3. Lack of vocabulary. The vocabulary is reduced. For example, "the thing for holding rice" is used instead of "bowl"; "that" or "this" is often used to replace words that cannot be remembered at the moment.

4. Repeating the same statements. For example, often asking family members the same question or telling the same story from their youth. This gives people the impression that the elderly are becoming more talkative than before.

5. Reduced judgment. For example, they cannot correctly judge the weather, mistakenly add or remove clothes, often buy unnecessary goods, and are easily deceived by scammers and fake advertisements that most people can identify.

Early symptoms of Alzheimer's disease are not obvious, so diagnosis is particularly difficult. Neuropsychological tests can detect subtle changes in memory, vision, cognition and executive function. In addition, brain scans, magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), glucose positron emission tomography (PET), and cerebrospinal fluid tests for tau protein and beta-amyloid protein levels are also needed to assist in diagnosis. If your family members often have the above or similar problems, don't take it for granted that it's just "old people and their brains don't work well". Go to the hospital as soon as possible for diagnosis and treatment.

Research has found that there is a dietary pattern that can keep the brain young and prevent Alzheimer's disease.

The dietary pattern for preventing Alzheimer's disease is divided into two parts: "encouraging more eating" and "restricting less eating":

Encourage eating more of the following 8 types of food

Eat more green leafy vegetables and at least one non-green leafy vegetable such as cauliflower, tomatoes, etc. every day;

Eat berry fruits such as blueberries, raspberries, strawberries, etc. at least twice a week;

Eat more nuts, 10 grams per day after shelling, which is about the equivalent of 10 almonds/walnuts;

Use olive oil for cooking. If you are not used to it, you can use camellia seed oil instead.

Eat more whole grains, and gradually make whole grains and beans account for more than 1/3 of the staple food;

Eat fish at least once a week, preferably tuna, salmon, etc. which are rich in fatty acids;

Eat poultry such as chicken and duck at least twice a week, but not fried chicken;

Include beans in at least 4 meals per week;

Limit the following 4 foods

Limit desserts, butter, and processed snacks;

Limit red meat to no more than 4 palm-sized servings (including thickness) per week; and cheese to no more than once per week.

Limit fried foods to less than once a week, such as once every other week or not at all;

This diet has an advantage, which is that it is easy to implement. Even if it cannot be strictly implemented, it still works! People who strictly adhere to the above diet pattern have a 53% lower risk of Alzheimer's disease; those who are not so strict and occasionally lazy and greedy can still reduce the risk of Alzheimer's disease by 35%; if you want to keep your brain young, you can try this diet pattern.

As long as you follow the above principles and choose carefully when eating, you can stay away from Alzheimer's disease...
