Aspirin, some people take it for "loneliness", some people are over-treating

Huazi found that many people do not understand the pharmacological effects of aspirin, and many people take it on their own. Some people do not use the medicine up to standard, and it cannot prevent thrombosis, and they just take it for nothing. Some people do not need to take aspirin, but take it to follow the trend, resulting in overtreatment. As a result, they do not enjoy the benefits of aspirin, but only endure the side effects of the drug in vain.

Aspirin is a medicine, not a health product. It has strict indications and usage requirements and cannot be taken casually.

1. Aspirin, a century-old “miracle drug”

Aspirin has been invented for more than 100 years and has always been known as a "miracle drug". Large doses of aspirin have antipyretic, analgesic and anti-inflammatory effects and are used to treat fever, pain and rheumatism.

Later, people discovered that aspirin can also inhibit platelet aggregation and prevent the formation of blood clots in arteries. Therefore, aspirin is now mainly used in small doses to prevent the occurrence of thrombotic diseases.

However, drug treatment is a "double-edged sword". While enjoying the benefits of drugs, you also have to bear the risk of adverse drug reactions. Therefore, when using aspirin, there are strict indications.

2. Who needs to use aspirin?

Aspirin can inhibit platelet aggregation, but under normal circumstances, platelets do not aggregate in blood vessels. Generally speaking, the platelet aggregation function will only be activated when atherosclerosis occurs and the hardened plaques rupture.

In other words, if there is no atherosclerosis or the risk of rupture of hardened plaques is not high, taking aspirin will not prevent disease. However, long-term use of aspirin has the risk of causing hemorrhagic diseases and adverse reactions such as damage to the digestive tract mucosa, so the pros and cons must be weighed before taking the drug.

Relevant tests have shown that for people who have not suffered from cardiovascular and cerebrovascular diseases, the benefits of taking aspirin are offset by the risks. Therefore, it is not recommended for healthy people to take aspirin to prevent the occurrence of diseases and avoid the risks of medication caused by excessive treatment.

However, for people who have already suffered from thrombotic diseases such as myocardial infarction and cerebral infarction, the risk of disease recurrence is very high, and the benefits of taking aspirin will be greater. Therefore, aspirin is now only recommended for people who have already suffered from cardiovascular and cerebrovascular diseases to prevent disease recurrence, or for people who, as assessed by a doctor, have a probability of developing cardiovascular and cerebrovascular diseases greater than 10% in the next 10 years.

3. How to take aspirin correctly

Aspirin works by inhibiting platelets. A portion of the platelets in the human body are renewed every day, so aspirin needs to be taken every day to inhibit the formation of new platelets in order to continue to play a role in disease prevention.

Low-dose aspirin is used to prevent cardiovascular and cerebrovascular diseases. "Low-dose" means taking between 75mg and 150mg per day.

Relevant tests have shown that if the dose of aspirin is reduced to less than 50 mg per day, it will not inhibit all platelets. When the daily dose is greater than 150 mg, the efficacy will not increase, but the side effects will increase significantly. The most commonly used dose of aspirin is 100 mg per day.

In other words, you need to take an effective dose of aspirin regularly every day to play its disease prevention role, otherwise you will just take it in vain.

In summary, people who have not had cardiovascular and cerebrovascular diseases are not recommended to take aspirin. People who have had related diseases and need to prevent recurrence of the disease need to take an effective dose of aspirin every day to effectively prevent the disease. The drug must be taken under the guidance of a doctor. If you have any questions about the use of the drug, please consult a doctor or pharmacist.
