What material is better for drum hammers?

Maple and walnut are better materials. Drum set, also known as jazz drum, is a percussion instrument in a jazz band. It is usually composed of a foot-operated bass drum, a snare drum, one or two cymbals, a rhythm cymbal and a hi-hat with a pedal. When playing, cowbells, wooden fish, shakers, triangles and hanging bells are needed. It is played by one person, and the drummer hits each part with a drumstick to make it sound. The drumsticks commonly used in jazz include wooden drumsticks, drum brushes made of steel wire, and a bundle of thin wooden strips.

How to play the bass drum of a drum set

There are two ways to step on the bass drum:

1. Flat pedaling method: Put your heel down and use the heel as the fulcrum, use the ankle to rotate, and tap the pedal lightly, so that the ankle remains relaxed and the entire sole of the foot is flat on the pedal. The flat pedaling method relies on the strength of the ankle and calf, so the acceleration time is short and the pedaling response is faster, but the disadvantage is that the range of ankle movement is limited to about 30 degrees, so the volume will be smaller than the pad pedaling method.

2. Pad-pedaling method: Without touching the ground with the heel, use the ankle and hip joint rotation to step on the pedal, lift the thigh upward, raise the heel, and keep the sole of the foot relaxed. Then sink the thigh downward and step down with the sole of the foot. In pad-pedaling method, because the heel is off the ground and not restricted by the pedal, the range of motion of the ankle can reach about 60 degrees. In addition, the gravity of the calf and thigh and the rotation of the hip joint can produce a larger and stronger drum sound by exerting force in multiple muscles.

How to increase the speed of drums

At the beginning, you should focus on slow and steady, practice the flexibility of your wrist first, and then pursue the speed you want. Remember to pursue speed while maintaining stability.

The drum set is also known as the jazz drum. It is a very important percussion instrument in a jazz band. It usually consists of a bass drum (also known as the "bass drum"), a snare drum, two or more tom-tom drums, one or two crash cymbals, a ride cymbal, and a hi-hat with a pedal. Of course, sometimes some additional components such as cowbells, wooden fish, shakers, triangles, and hanging bells are added due to performance needs. No matter how many additional components are added, they are all played by one person. The drummer hits each component with a drumstick to make it sound. The drumsticks commonly used in jazz music include wooden drumsticks, drum brushes made of steel wire, and bundles of thin wooden strips. The drum set is not a solo instrument. It requires some solo instruments to be played in conjunction.
