How long does it take for the lochia to be clear after miscarriage?

Many pregnant women are very concerned about one issue, that is, how long is the normal duration of lochia? In fact, postpartum lochia usually lasts for 4-6 weeks, and the key lies in each person's physical fitness. Generally speaking, people with good physical fitness can clear it up in about 3 weeks, while people with weaker physical fitness need about 6 weeks. Let's take a look at how long it takes for a woman's lochia to be cleared up. Is this normal?

How long does it take for a woman's lochia to be cleared up?

1. Choose a natural birth

Generally, if you choose a normal delivery, the lochia will be discharged 4-6 weeks after giving birth, and the total output will be between 500-1000ML. At this time, the lochia has a fishy smell but no peculiar smell. Because the body shape of each pregnant woman is different, the amount of lochia discharged after delivery also changes in stages. At this time, do not mistake postpartum lochia for menstruation, and pay attention to the difference. If the color changes from bright red to light red and then to milky white, then this is postpartum lochia, otherwise it may be menstruation. If the lochia remains unclean for a long time after giving birth, you need to go to the hospital for immediate examination and treatment.

2. Caesarean section

Generally speaking, the duration and amount of lochia discharged during cesarean section are quite different from those during normal delivery. The lochia caused by caesarean section can be cleared up about 20 days after delivery. Lochia has a fishy smell, but it is not smelly. If a pregnant woman has persistent lochia 30 days after giving birth, and is accompanied by a foul odor, abdominal pain, fever and other symptoms, then the uterus, ovaries, fallopian tubes and vagina may be infected. If the postpartum lochia increases, the color becomes redder and darker, or there is blood accumulation, abnormal uterine bleeding and vaginal trauma, it may also be caused by long-term unclean postpartum lochia caused by infection. If the above situation occurs, please go to the hospital for physical examination and treatment immediately.

3. Induction of labor

Because each woman's physical constitution is essentially different, the amount and total volume of postpartum lochia are also essentially different. Under normal circumstances, postpartum lochia will be completely clear after about a month, but some women are in good health and can be hospitalized after a dozen days. If there is not enough postpartum lochia at this point, you need to go to the hospital for a comprehensive examination and receive treatment according to the doctor's advice.
