Is cyanobacteria a prokaryotic organism?

Cyanobacteria are a type of algae, prokaryotes that can release oxygen through photosynthesis. They are the earliest photosynthetic oxygen-releasing organisms and played a huge role in the transformation of the earth's surface from an anaerobic atmosphere to an aerobic environment.

Cyanobacteria are single-cell individuals or groups, or filaments with cells arranged in strings to form algae filaments (cell rows), which are unbranched, pseudo-branched or true-branched. They have nucleoplasm but no nuclear membrane; the chromoplasm is mainly composed of thylakoids and related structures, phycobilisomes and glycogen granules, etc., and have photosynthetic pigments such as chlorophyll a, phycobilins, carotene, and carotenoids, but no chloroplast membrane and no chloroplast formation; they have cell walls.

The cell wall of cyanobacteria is mainly composed of two layers, the inner layer is the peptidoglycan layer, the outer layer is the lipoprotein layer, and the periplasmic space between the two layers contains lipopolysaccharide and degradation enzymes. The cell wall is often covered with a mucous sheath or gelatinous cap composed of polysaccharides. There is a protoplasmic membrane inside the cell wall. The protoplasm inside the membrane is relatively dense and can be divided into two main areas, namely the surrounding chromoplasmic area with photosynthetic pigments and the central colorless centroplasmic area.

Organisms can be divided into unicellular organisms and multicellular organisms according to the number of cells they are composed of. Unicellular organisms are composed of only a single cell, and they often gather into cell colonies. The earliest organisms on Earth were formed about 3.5 billion to 4.1 billion years ago. Prokaryotes are the most primitive organisms, such as bacteria and blue-green algae, and they occur in warm water. Unicellular organisms include all archaea and true bacteria and many protists.

How to deal with blue algae

Treatment methods for blue algae:

1. Drainage: Blue algae like strong light. At noon on a sunny day, draining 30 cm to 40 cm of surface water can effectively reduce the number of blue algae in the pool water.

2. Killing algae: Spray the water with biological blue algae killer in the morning, and then use compound Bacillus subtilis and add appropriate amount of pool water to soak for more than 3 hours after 3 hours. As this kind of water body is prone to hypoxia, the water body needs to be oxygenated and oxygen source should be sprayed at night.

3. Water adjustment: Photosynthetic bacteria regulate water quality and control the nitrogen and phosphorus content in the water.

4. Water cultivation: In high temperature seasons, the phosphorus in the water body is often insufficient to supply the growth needs of algae such as green algae and diatoms, which restricts the growth and reproduction of these algae. Blue-green algae take the opportunity to grow and explode. Therefore, applying phosphorus fertilizer in appropriate amounts and cultivating beneficial algae can effectively prevent the occurrence of blue-green algae.
