32 days postpartum lochia bright red

32 days postpartum lochia bright red

Postpartum lochia is one of the common symptoms during the confinement period, and it is also a symptom that pregnant women must experience. Postpartum lochia is a normal reaction, so pregnant women do not need to worry that there is something wrong with their body. Generally speaking, the color of lochia will change. So why is there bright red lochia 30 days after giving birth? What should I do if the lochia is not clear 35 days after giving birth?

Why do I still have bright red lochia 30 days after giving birth?

Under normal circumstances, the lochia of parturients lasts about 42 days. In the first 3 days of postpartum lochia, because it contains a lot of blood, the lochia will be red. The following serous lochia is dark red and lasts about 10 days. The lochia after delivery will be milky white. If there is still bright red lochia 30 days after giving birth, it is abnormal. It may be caused by residual embryos or fetal membranes in the uterine cavity, or poor uterine contractions. You should go to the hospital for a color Doppler ultrasound examination. If there are residual embryos or fetal membranes, you should undergo a uterine curettage. If not, and it is only caused by poor uterine contractions, you can inject oxytocin intramuscularly, or take drugs that promote uterine contractions, such as motherwort paste or Xinsheng granules.

What is postpartum lochia

Lochia is caused by the shedding of the uterine wall. It is a mixture of blood, white blood cells, mucus and tissue in the uterus that falls out and is discharged through the vagina. In the early stage after giving birth, because blood and blood clots are the main components of lochia, the secretion looks extremely bright red in the first 3 or 4 days. When pregnant women wake up for the first time at this stage (or after a long period of bed rest), more blood may suddenly appear in the vagina. This is mostly normal and pregnant women do not need to worry too much.

Generally speaking, lochia will turn dark red in about ten days, dark brown and light yellow after two weeks, and gradually turn to milky white in about 4 to 6 weeks. The better the uterine contraction, the faster the lochia will stop. If a pregnant woman has lochia, she should go to the hospital immediately for medical treatment, because lochia can cause great harm to her health. Pregnant women should maintain an optimistic attitude at all times, and try to choose foods containing a variety of vitamins and nutrients, such as a variety of vegetables, fruits, legumes, eggs, meat and so on.
