Why are girls’ hands and feet always cold and can’t be warmed up?

If women are made of water, then women in winter may be made of ice. No matter how long you cover your feet in the quilt, they will never be warm.

In the office, I often see female and male colleagues arguing about whether to turn on the heating. The boys think it’s too hot, while the girls think it’s too cold.

Could it be that this girl was a broken-winged angel in her previous life?

In fact, whether it is girls or boys, it is easy to have cold hands and feet in the cold winter.

This is because cold causes blood vessels to constrict and increases blood flow resistance.

The first areas where blood flow slows down are the skin and nerve endings, and the hands and feet are the extremities, so they are the first to become cold.

However, compared to men, women's hands and feet are indeed more susceptible to colder weather in winter, and there is some basis for this.

① Women's hands and feet are naturally colder than men's. A study titled "Cold hands, warm heart" published in the famous medical journal "The Lancet" in 1998 confirmed this view.

The researchers studied 219 people, ranging in age from under one year old to 84 years old, including 78 men and 141 women.

Through a series of research measurements, it was found that:

The average core temperature for women was 97.8 degrees Fahrenheit, while it was 97.4 degrees Fahrenheit for men.

But women's average hand temperature was only 87.2 degrees Fahrenheit, while men's was 90 degrees Fahrenheit.

That is, women's average core body temperature was 0.4 degrees Fahrenheit higher than men's, but their average hand temperature was 2.8 degrees Fahrenheit lower than men's.

It seems that women's hands and feet are naturally colder than men's.

② I believe many people have heard about the influence of female hormones: "Women will be more afraid of cold after giving birth."

This is actually due to estrogen.

Estrogen is involved in body temperature regulation, and women's basal body temperature changes with the menstrual cycle (changes in estrogen levels).

Generally speaking, your body temperature is lower during the first 14 days of your menstrual cycle than during the last 14 days.

During menstruation, postpartum period and menopause, women's estrogen secretion will decrease, causing the estrogen level in the body to continue to decline. Subcutaneous blood vessels will contract and blood flow will decrease, making the hands and feet more likely to become cold.

Still the above document "Cold hands, warm heart" shows:

Menstrual status can affect a woman's body temperature.

Women over 50 who have reached menopause have lower hand and heart temperatures than girls under 13 who have never had their periods.

③Women’s muscle proportion and basal metabolic rate are lower than men’s. Only by maintaining a balance between heat production and heat dissipation can the body maintain normal body temperature.

Under normal circumstances, the main organs that produce heat in the human body are internal organs (such as the liver), which account for 56% of the body's heat production.

The second largest component is the brain, which accounts for 16%, and together with the heat produced by the muscles of the limbs and trunk, the body's heat supply can be maintained.

Men generally have a higher muscle ratio than women, which makes their basal metabolic rate higher and produces more heat.

This means that women need to rely on external means to keep warm more than men.

So, this is why girls always have hot water bottles, hot milk tea, hot coffee, and thermos cups in their hands.

To sum up, it is natural that women's hands and feet are colder than men's in winter.

At this time, what the boyfriend/husband should do is not complain, but hug her.

If you are a woman who doesn’t have a partner yet, you should take good care of yourself.

Wear more clothes, do some exercise, and use heating equipment to warm yourself up, so your hands and feet won't be so cold.

Finally, don’t look down on people with cold hands and feet, because their hearts are warm:)
