Why do those farts you hold back disappear? You may not want to hold them back anymore after knowing where they go

I believe everyone has had this experience: when meeting parents-in-law, meeting with leaders, dating with girlfriends, etc., you suddenly have "internal energy" and want to fart. However, such occasions do not allow you to release it freely. In order to avoid embarrassment, you can only tighten your sphincter and hold back the fart.

But when they are in an environment where they can release stress at will, they find that the fart they held back is gone. So many people ask themselves the "soul-searching question": where did the fart go?

1. Where do farts come from? To figure out where the farts go, we must first understand where the farts come from. We eat a lot of food every day, and when these foods are digested in the human body, they are not "swallowed" by the human body alone, but "shared" with the symbiotic bacteria in the digestive tract. When these symbiotic bacteria decompose food, they will produce a lot of gas, which is the main source of farts. Another small part is the small amount of air that comes in when the human body swallows food.

From the composition of farts, 59% is nitrogen, 21% is hydrogen, 9% is carbon dioxide, 7% is methane, and 3% is oxygen. These gases make up 99% of farts. These gases are colorless and odorless and are only used to expand the volume of farts.

The last 1%, which includes gases with unique odors such as ammonia, hydrogen sulfide, indole, skatole, volatile amines, and volatile fatty acids, are what give farts the property of "biochemical killing".

Second, why do farts disappear after being held back? First of all, one thing that can be confirmed is that the physical form of farts is gas, and gas is a fluid. The human intestines are connected upward and downward, so farts can flow in the intestines. The peristaltic direction of the human intestines is always toward the anus, and it will carry food residues and farts forward. When the fart fills the rectum, the intestinal wall will transmit the pressure to the brain. If the external environment is "suitable" at this time, the brain will control the sphincter to relax and let the fart out of the "door".

However, if it is not the right time to release the fart, the brain will order the sphincter of the "gate" to contract strongly, sending a signal that "this road is blocked". The strong pressure in the rectum will cause the fart to "go upstream" and return to the upper level of the intestine. The outside of the intestine is covered with blood vessels, and farts that remain in the intestine for a long time will gradually be absorbed into the blood, metabolized by the liver, and sent to the lungs for exhalation.

Although it is hard to accept, this is the truth. If you hold back a fart, it will eventually come out of your mouth and nose. For people who eat a light diet, it may not have much impact. But for people who like to eat meat, or like leeks, onions and other pungent foods, the breath they exhale will have an unpleasant smell.

So, when someone's "speech smells like a fart," it doesn't necessarily mean that there is something wrong with his oral cavity. It may also be that he just happened to hold in a fart and then exhaled it out of his mouth.

3. Try not to hold in your farts. Holding in your farts occasionally will not cause any substantial harm to your body, but farts running around in the intestines may cause bloating and abdominal pain before being absorbed by the blood. Moreover, after being absorbed into the blood through the intestines, they will first be metabolized by the liver, and the components of farts are not good for the human body. Long-term habitual holding in your farts will have a certain impact on liver function.

And if the fart is large, it will make a sound when rolling in the intestines, and in a quiet environment, people will mistakenly think that you are farting. As a result, you don’t fart but get the stigma of farting, and have to endure the pain of holding back your fart. It’s better to “let it go if you have to fart”.

In summary, if you hold back a fart, it will be expelled through your breath, so try not to hold it back. However, there is one exception, which is when you have diarrhea. Because the pressure of liquid on the rectal wall is also uniform, it is very similar to a gas fart, so the brain may misjudge it, and if you accidentally treat it as a fart and let it out, it may cause "big problems". At this time, you can only work hard to train your sphincter.
