The process of female intrauterine device insertion

Contraception is very important for couples who are not ready to have children. There are many ways of contraception, such as using condoms, taking special medicines, and many women also use IUDs. Compared with other contraceptive methods, IUD insertion is relatively safe and convenient, so it is more popular. The following is a detailed introduction to the process of IUD insertion for women.

What are the steps in the ring process?

(1) The female private parts such as the vulva and inner vulva need to be cleaned and disinfected, and then covered with sterile towels.

(2) Before having an IUD inserted, women must undergo various physical examinations and ensure that they are in good health before having the IUD inserted. Especially the position and size of the vagina and uterus.

(3) Use a vaginal speculum to dilate the vagina, expose the cervix, wipe away cervical secretions, and disinfect the cervix and cervical canal with disinfectant.

(4) Measure the depth and width of the uterine cavity. Support the cervical forceps with your left hand and hold the uterine probe with your right hand. Gently probe into the uterine cavity along the direction of the uterus until it reaches the uterine fundus, measure the depth of the uterine cavity, and gently swing it to both sides to estimate the width of the uterine cavity.

(5) The model of the contraceptive ring needs to be selected based on the size of the female uterine cavity.

(6) The last step is the most important in the whole process of IUD insertion. The contraceptive ring selected by the woman is placed on the contraceptive device and slowly inserted into the uterine cavity along the direction of the uterine cavity until it is placed in the bottom of the uterus. When the contraceptive ring is delivered to the inner opening of the uterus, the contraceptive ring placement device needs to be laid flat and then aligned with the longitudinal axis of the uterine cavity to prevent the contraceptive ring from twisting in the uterus. Then, after the contraceptive ring is moved to the bottom of the uterus, the placement device should be withdrawn. At this point the entire ring-up process is complete.

However, having an IUD inserted is not a permanent solution. There are still some women who get pregnant after having it inserted. This is mainly because the IUD does not match the size and shape of the uterine cavity, or because the material does not have enough support, and the contraction of the uterus expels it from the body. Therefore, it is very important to choose the right model when inserting an IUD! However, unmarried women are generally not recommended to have an IUD inserted! ~ Because the contraceptive ring is deformed, twisted, or abnormally positioned, it can become embedded in the uterine wall, causing increased bleeding or dysmenorrhea. If the endometrium is very fragile, bacteria or viruses may be introduced into the uterine cavity during IUD insertion, or if care is not taken after IUD insertion, it may easily cause uterine cavity infection, excessive bleeding, prolonged menstruation, and dysmenorrhea. However, if the IUD is inserted in a regular hospital, this situation rarely occurs.

Precautions after IUD insertion: 1. Do not do heavy physical labor within one week, avoid adding abdominal pressure, and avoid sexual intercourse and tub bathing within two weeks. 2. Keep the vulva clean, wash it every day, and change underwear frequently. 3. You should receive follow-up visits from medical staff during the first menstruation after the insertion of the IUD and in the 3rd, 6th and 12th months after the insertion, and have 1-2 check-ups each year thereafter. 4. After the IUD is inserted, a small amount of vaginal bleeding, back pain, lower abdominal distension and pain may occur. Mild cases can be left untreated. Severe symptoms such as bleeding exceeding the menstrual volume should be diagnosed and treated in time. If you find that the uterus is prolapsed or you have any pregnancy symptoms, you should go to the family planning service center or hospital for examination in time. 5. All kinds of rings have a certain service life. T copper rings are 8-10 years, mother rings are 5 years, and copper palace rings are more than 10 years. When the IUD you have installed has reached its service life, you should replace it under the guidance of your doctor, or use other contraceptive methods. Within 3-7 days after menstruation ends. 6. Older women should contact medical staff within six months to one year after their menstruation stops and have the IUD removed in time.
