Why the lotus does not bloom?

The possible reasons why the lotus does not bloom are as follows:

1. Light problem. Lotus is a sun-loving plant, and it needs a growing environment with sufficient light and good ventilation. If the planting environment is poorly ventilated and lacks light, the leaves cannot fully carry out photosynthesis and cannot bloom.

2. Pot problem. If the pot is too small, the space for the rhizome to expand is too small, the rhizome is crowded, and there is no space for the buds to grow, and the lotus cannot bloom. In addition, the lotus flower bud differentiation process requires a dark environment. If the pot is made of glass containers or other transparent materials, it is extremely unfavorable for the flower bud differentiation.

3. Improper potting soil depth. If small varieties are grown in a deep barrel pot, the potting soil is too deep, and the leaf buds and flower buds are unable to grow out of the soil. Or if the potting soil is too loose and the environment is windy, the root system cannot stabilize the plant, and the flower buds attached to the base of the petiole are unstable and cannot develop normally.

The structure of the lotus

Morphological characteristics: The underground stems of lotus grow horizontally in the mud, and are round to oval in shape. Adventitious roots and lateral buds grow on the nodes. The internodes are hypertrophic and have multiple air cavities. There are also many tiny water-transporting vessels on the stems, and the walls of the vessels are attached with thickened mucus-like lignocellulose, which is elastic. There are also air cavities on the petioles and pedicels. The water-transporting vessels and lignocellulose are connected to the underground stems. The top of the lotus root has a terminal bud. After germination, a white, tender, slender and noded lotus root whip is drawn out. The end of the whip grows a new lotus root, which is called the main lotus root. The first branch is called the sub-root, and the second branch is called the grandson lotus. There are three types of leaves. The leaves that grow first from the seed lotus root are called money leaves; the first few branches that grow from the lotus root whip nodes are called floating leaves; and then the water-emerging leaves grow, which are called upright leaves. Before emerging from the water, the three types of leaves are folded in half and rolled into a double tube shape close to the petiole, collectively called rolled leaves. The leaves are nearly round, with shield-shaped entire margins, and the leaf surface is horny and has nipple-like protrusions. The flowers are solitary and bisexual; the sepals are green and often fall off early; the buds are peach-shaped and dark purple, rose red or gray-green; the flower types include single petal, double petal, double petal, double-petal, thousand-petal, etc. The maximum flower diameter can reach 30cm and the minimum is only about 6cm. The flower colors are red, pink, white, light green, yellow, complex colors, and intermediate colors. There are only two species of lotus plants:
