Prenatal breast massage techniques

Many pregnant mothers choose to massage their breasts as a medical treatment during pregnancy, but how to massage? It is not easy to do, and the massage technique also requires attention. Here I will give you a brief introduction on how to massage your breasts correctly.

Massage method 1: hot massage

Use a clean cotton towel dipped in warm water, rub in a circular motion from the center of the nipple to the nipple position, apply heat on both sides in turn, 15 minutes on each side, and cooperate with the following massage methods:

Circular massage: Place your hands above and below the breasts, and massage the entire breast in a circular shape.

Spiral massage: Hold the breast with one hand, and use the ring finger and middle thumb of the other hand to massage towards the nipple in a spiral shape.

Acupressure massage: Stretch out your hands and place them on both sides of the breasts, squeezing from the breasts to the nipples to shape them.

Horizontal massage: The purpose is to maintain a good blood circulation system in the breast. The basic method is to move the base of the breast, and there is no need to rub the raised area (mammary gland).

Massage method 2: overall breast massage

Step 1: Apply heat to the entire breast with a hot and damp cotton towel.

Step 2: Place one hand horizontally on the other breast, and hold the other hand in that hand. Use both hands to push towards the center of the chest for breast massage.

The third step: close the fingers of both hands and place them under the breast, vibrate the entire breast from the base of the breast, and then use both hands to push and massage the breast upward.

Step 4: Support the breasts from the bottom and push them upwards with both hands.

During the above massage, both hands must hold the entire breast tightly, and the force of the movement should be strong. If you feel the breast mass disappearing from the pectoralis major muscle, it is effective. However, it is forbidden to knead randomly to avoid breast injury.

Massage method: Nipple massage

Step 1: Wash your hands and use soapy water to clean the outside of the nipple in a circular motion to the base of the breast (neck), cleaning the left and right breasts respectively. The nipples should be avoided from being cleaned with soap to avoid washing away the protective oil on the surface, and also pay attention to cleaning the scabs.

Step 2: After cleaning, hold the breast firmly, massage the nipple position with the middle thumb and ring finger from the base of the breast under the neck, and knead the nipple with the thumb and ring finger to increase the elasticity of the nipple.

So, how often should pregnant women massage their breasts?

Pregnant women can assess on their own at 20-24 weeks and begin to prepare for breastfeeding, such as nipple care and breast massage; but the purpose is to promote blood circulation and breast development, and the frequency and intensity of massage can be moderate.

The breasts in the middle and late stages are not suitable for excessive massage. Pregnant mothers are required to establish the awareness of breast care. If the nipple is short or concave, first give a pulling massage; for the massage of the breast itself, you can massage for 2-3 minutes every day before taking a shower or going to bed. The massage should be as gentle as possible. If you feel pain in the lower abdomen during the process, you should stop immediately.
