What causes body odor? The difference between body odor and body odor

Nowadays, many people feel that they have a smell on their bodies, but they don’t know whether it is body odor or body odor. If they always regard body odor as their own body odor, this will delay the best time to treat body odor. The experience compiled by the editor of Encyclopedia Knowledge Network is to tell you what body odor is and what body odor is. I hope it can help you.

Introduction to Body Odor

Body odor, also known as beard odor or armpit odor, is a localized bromhidrosis in science. It refers to the unpleasant odor emanating from the armpits. The odor is caused by the sweat secreted by the apocrine glands in the armpits, which is decomposed by bacteria on the surface of the skin to produce a special odor, or it may be inherited. According to surveys, 80% of people whose parents both have body odor will inherit it. If only one parent has body odor, the probability of inheritance is 50%.

Causes of body odor

Young men and women have higher levels of glandular secretions on their body surface than other people, especially those with oily skin, whose body odor is much stronger than that of ordinary people.

Sweat itself has no odor. It's only when sweat is acted upon by the skin's naturally occurring bacteria that the odor we all associate with sweat develops. This odor is especially noticeable on the feet, armpits, and groin because those areas have a high concentration of sweat glands. Also, shoes and clothing that induce sweating increase bacterial activity. Certain nutritional deficiencies, such as zinc, can also contribute to body odor. Women sometimes develop odor related to menstruation, but most of this can be prevented with good personal hygiene.

Body odor, smells of decay—or smells like nail polish, paint, ammonia, or tree stink—may indicate a disease or metabolic problem. The most effective way to get rid of body odor is to wash with soap and water, sometimes more than once a day. To control the activity of bacteria that cause sweat odor, wash with an antibacterial soap. Fragrances contain mild antibacterial ingredients that help hinder the effectiveness of bacteria and mask underarm odor, but they do not stop sweating. To stop sweating, antiperspirants can be used to inhibit the secretion and function of the exocrine glands. Antiperspirants must be used daily for a week to achieve maximum effectiveness.

Causes and characteristics of body odor

The root cause of body odor is due to abnormal sweat glands. The sweat glands of the human body are divided into apocrine glands and eccrine glands! Apocrine glands are distributed in the armpits, perineum, feet, groin and areola, and are closely connected with hair follicles in the armpits. Through years of treatment of body odor, it has been confirmed that the production of body odor is closely related to apocrine glands!

What are the characteristics of body odor:

1. It mainly occurs in the armpits, causing easy sweating and emitting an unpleasant odor after sweating.

2. Body odor is most obvious in summer. The hotter the weather, the stronger the odor.

3. Excessive sweating under the armpits, and the sweat is yellow and sticky, often staining clothes yellow.

4. Patients with more severe body odor symptoms often have oily ears, and the earwax is greasy and sticky.

Conclusion

I hope this experience can help everyone correctly understand the difference between body odor and body odor, discover health problems, and treat them in time. Thank you!
