How to prevent unknown pneumonia in Wuhan? What should we pay attention to?

We all know that in recent times, there have been many cases of unknown pneumonia infection in Wuhan. The first outbreak was in the South China Seafood Market. As time goes by, the number of people infected with unknown pneumonia continues to increase, which requires high attention. How can we prevent unknown pneumonia in Wuhan? Let's take a closer look!

How to prevent Wuhan pneumonia

1. Based on the epidemic situation of SARS coronavirus and MERS coronavirus, the most effective way to prevent infection with the new coronavirus is to avoid contact with wild birds, mammals and other virus hosts.

2. Reduce gatherings: In winter, the temperature drops and the virus is more active, so it is even more important to take precautions. Avoid crowded places and places with poor ventilation as much as possible.

3. Detect suspicious patients in time: If suspected pneumonia symptoms are found, seek medical attention as soon as possible. Once viral pneumonia is confirmed, strict and standardized isolation measures should be taken immediately.

4. It is recommended to wear masks: Since the coronavirus is transmitted through the respiratory and digestive tracts, wearing a mask can play a certain preventive role.

5. Strengthen hand hygiene management: It is recommended to wash hands with running water and soap. The mechanical flushing of running water can effectively reduce the possibility of virus infection.

6. Protect susceptible groups: The elderly, the young and those with low immunity should be protected, take preventive measures, avoid going to public places, and reduce the chance of contracting the virus.

What should we pay attention to during Wuhan pneumonia?

Wash your hands frequently

Pay attention to personal hygiene habits in daily life and wash your hands frequently, especially before meals and after defecation, before and after touching your eyes, nose or mouth, after taking public transportation or touching public facilities, and after going out and returning home.

After direct contact with patients, handling items used by patients, or contact with respiratory secretions, you should wash your hands with detergent or disinfect your hands with disinfectant.

Wear a mask

Wearing a mask is an effective way to block the spread of respiratory secretions.

Citizens can choose medical surgical masks for daily protection. N95 masks have better disease prevention effects, but they have poor air permeability and high breathing resistance, making them unsuitable for long-term wear. When buying masks, you should choose masks that clearly indicate "medical surgical masks" on the outer packaging.

You should wash your hands before wearing a mask or avoid touching the inside of the mask with your hands while wearing it to reduce the possibility of the mask being contaminated.

Distinguish between up and down and inside and outside: the end with the metal strip faces upwards and the lighter colored side faces inwards.

Medical surgical masks consist of a water-blocking layer (darker in color), a filter layer, and a moisture-absorbing layer (lighter in color) from the outside to the inside. They play different roles. Therefore, remember that the lighter-colored moisture-absorbing layer faces inward and the darker-colored water-blocking layer faces outward. They cannot be worn upside down, and they cannot be worn on both sides alternately. At the same time, they must be replaced regularly and used once, generally not more than 4 hours, and cannot be reused.

Frequent ventilation

Even in cold weather, you should pay attention to ventilation, especially in collective places such as hospitals and stations. Strengthen the circulation of indoor and outdoor air, and do not close doors and windows to keep warm in winter. Avoid going to crowded places and places with poor ventilation as much as possible.

Observe diligently

Be alert to the health of yourself and your family. If you have suspected symptoms such as fever, cough and shortness of breath, you should wear a mask in time, take personal protection, pay attention to personal hygiene and seek medical treatment in time to avoid delaying treatment and causing serious consequences.

Early symptoms of Wuhan pneumonia

Like the coronaviruses that have been discovered, the common symptoms of the new coronavirus are mainly respiratory infection symptoms:

1. Fever, cough, shortness of breath or difficulty breathing

2. In more severe cases, infection can lead to pneumonia, severe acute respiratory syndrome, kidney failure and even death.

3. In most areas except Wuhan, we should be alert to pneumonia in babies. However, colds and pneumonia are very similar, and many parents cannot tell them apart.

To distinguish between a cold and pneumonia, you need to closely observe the baby's condition. If the baby develops a fever three days after a cold (typical symptoms of pneumonia are persistent high fever above 39°C, accompanied by sweating and fear of cold), and the cough symptoms continue to worsen (about 10 days) without relief, or develop into a series of severe coughs, breathing becomes significantly faster, and sometimes even feels suffocated and can't breathe, so that the face becomes red or the lips become purple.

If you experience the above symptoms, you should seek medical attention immediately, without delay. These may be signs of a secondary lung infection.
