How do succulent leaves sprout quickly? Why are the succulent leaves not full?

Succulent plants have full and fleshy leaves, and are the first choice of green plants for many people. Succulent plants can be cultivated by leaf cuttings, that is, using the leaves of succulent plants to germinate and plant. So how can you make the leaves of succulent plants germinate quickly?

How to make succulent leaves sprout quickly

Succulent leaves are cultivated by leaf cutting, that is, select some healthy succulent leaves as seedling leaves. After selecting the leaves, add water with an appropriate amount of rooting powder (add water according to the indicated proportion). Soak the succulent leaves in the rooting liquid for a while, then take them out. Dry them in a cool and ventilated place.

Leaf cuttings are suitable for the growth period of succulents. Temperatures between 15-25°C are conducive to rapid rooting and germination. When inserting succulent leaves, the damaged parts of the succulents should be dried to enhance the resistance of succulents to soil bacteria, reduce the occurrence of diseases, and make them easier to survive. Do not insert the leaves directly into the soil, which often leads to infection of bacteria in the soil. You can lay the leaves flat and diagonally into the soil. The soil can also be disinfected with carbendazim before inserting the leaves.

Why are the leaves of succulents not full?

Adequate lighting

Light is the basis for growing succulents well. If you want succulents to be beautiful, compact, and like little buns, you must expose them to more sunlight. The more sunlight they get, the more compact their leaves will be. Succulents will grow too long if they don't get enough light. Succulents that are not fat enough will grow too long to some extent, but some are obvious and some are mild.

Appropriate water control

The principle of water control is not to not water, nor to water a little at a time. Instead, it is to gradually extend the watering time, step by step, so that the succulent gradually feels hungry, and then the next time it is watered, it will try to drink as much water as possible to support the growth of leaves.

The soil should not be too moist

There is also a science to controlling the soil of succulents. The soil cannot retain water too much. Otherwise, it will not be able to control water. Therefore, we need to make the soil have better drainage and better air permeability when preparing the soil. This way, the soil will dry faster and the roots can breathe better.

Healthy root system

When the root system of succulents is weak or unhealthy, they cannot absorb much water and nutrients, so the succulents will slowly consume and become thinner and thinner.

How to keep succulents fat and plump

Succulents are mostly in a semi-dormant or dormant state in summer and winter. They need shade and ventilation in summer and warmth and less water in winter. As long as they can pass these two time periods smoothly, the succulents will grow plump.

Secondly, the soil in the pot is the key. If the soil is not well prepared, has no nutrients, and is particularly compacted, and no particles such as vermiculite, perlite, and medical stone are added, then it will be very easy to become compacted and the roots of the succulents will not grow well. To grow succulents, you must first grow good roots, so the soil is very important. Only when the soil is good can the succulents grow fat.

Also, add some fertilizer during the growing season, and there is no need to water during the winter. Avoid excessive exposure to the sun in winter, but get more sun in autumn and winter.
