Why do crystal jasmine buds fall off? How to fix the crystal jasmine buds falling off?

Crystal jasmine is also called dogtooth flower. Crystal jasmine and jasmine are similar in appearance, but they are not a type of jasmine. However, many families grow them because the method is simple and the flowers they bloom are also very ornamental.

Why do crystal jasmine buds fall off?

The soil is alkaline

Crystal jasmine likes acidic soil. When growing crystal jasmine in the north and watering the flowers with tap water, the soil will become alkaline, which will be detrimental to the growth of crystal jasmine, causing the leaves to turn yellow and even the flower buds to fall off.

Low indoor air humidity

Crystal jasmine prefers an environment with high air humidity. It usually requires indoor air humidity to be above 70%. Especially in the north where the indoor air is dry in summer, crystal jasmine will not grow well in a dry environment, and the buds will fall off.

Large temperature difference between day and night

Crystal jasmine is a flower that likes high temperatures and is afraid of a cold growing environment. If there is heavy rain and cooling weather in the summer, if our crystal jasmine is placed outside the window or balcony, there will be a large temperature difference between day and night, which will cause the flower buds to fall.

Insufficient soil fertility

If insufficient fertilizer is provided and nutrients are lacking in the soil when the crystal jasmine is forming buds and about to bloom, the buds will not bloom or may even fall off. At this time, a balanced multi-element compound fertilizer should be applied. Liquid fertilizer is preferred. If it is solid fertilizer, bury it shallowly in the soil, but use a small amount. Liquid fertilizer should be diluted with water, and a spray bottle should be used to spray the leaves and roots to provide sufficient nutrients for the growth of the crystal jasmine.

How to fix crystal jasmine buds falling off

1. Dilute ferrous sulfate and water, strictly follow the instructions for dilution, spray the leaves and roots of crystal jasmine with the diluted solution, and keep the soil acidic at all times to prevent the problem of flower buds falling off.

2. Spray water on the leaves and surrounding areas 3-5 times a day to increase the indoor air humidity, which will prevent the flower buds from falling.

3. Move the crystal jasmine indoors during rainy and cold weather, close the windows, and reduce excessive temperature differences.

4. Apply a balanced multi-element compound fertilizer, preferably liquid fertilizer. If it is solid fertilizer, bury it shallowly in the soil, but stick to a small amount. Liquid fertilizer should be diluted with water, and use a spray bottle to spray the leaves and roots to provide sufficient nutrients for the growth of crystal jasmine.

Why do crystal jasmine leaves turn yellow?

On the one hand, the growth environment of the plant is not conducive to growth, and insufficient photosynthesis cannot provide enough energy; on the other hand, flowering and reproductive growth require more nutrients, the nutrients in the leaves are transferred, and the old leaves will turn yellow.

Another possibility is that you watered too much and the soil is too moist, which is not conducive to root breathing. Over time, the leaves will turn yellow and may even fall off!

It is recommended to thin the flowers appropriately, prune off the sick and weak branches (if any), and then place it in the sun for more sun. The soil only needs to be slightly moist. The water requirement is not large in this season. When it is dry, spray some water, and do not water it heavily.
