The soil of the newly bought flowers is very wet when they are repotted. Do I still need to water them? Why can't I keep the flowers I bought from the flower market alive?

Many people buy their first flower pot at the flower market, because they can directly see what the flowers and plants will look like after they grow up, and can choose the ones they like best. But many times, the flowers bought at the flower market are difficult to keep alive.

The soil of the newly bought flower is very wet when it is repotted. Do I still need to water it?

First of all, you need to look at the soil of the flower pot. If the soil is very dry, water it immediately. Don't wait until it's dry for a long time and the branches and leaves turn yellow and dry. Don't water it halfway. Water it thoroughly. Then don't expose it to the sun immediately. Put it in a place with scattered light and good ventilation to wait for a while.

Second, look at the temperature, air temperature, and season to determine whether it needs watering and sun exposure. Now the temperature here in Xiaoya is still about 30 degrees during the day, it is even hotter at noon, and the sun is relatively large, so the newly bought potted plants are not suitable for sun exposure, especially the strong light now.

Third, it is best not to fertilize the newly bought potted flowers immediately. Wait until new leaves begin to sprout, and then fertilize them. Also, do not change the pot or soil immediately. Wait until the flowers have adapted to the growing environment at home, and then consider whether to change the soil or pot.

Fourth, if it is a drought-resistant potted plant, you need to water it less often. For example, Sansevieria, Tiger Tail, Aloe, Desert Rose, and succulents are relatively drought-resistant, and water should not be allowed to accumulate in the potting soil. If it is a plant or flower that likes a humid environment, such as mint and pennywort, you need to water it in time.

Why can't I keep the flowers I buy at the flower market alive?

1. When buying flowers, pay attention to the ratio of soil to plants. Some plants look small and seem to fit well in small pots, but they actually need a lot of soil. The vendors know that the plants they sell will not die within two months, so they use small pots. This saves money and effort, and it looks good.

2. We all know that succulents need to be grown with nutrient soil. In fact, the flowers and plants we grow also need nutrient soil. Some small merchants who don’t know much or want to save money will not use nutrient soil, which causes the flowers and plants we buy to be malnourished and die soon after they arrive at our place.

3. Transplanting can cause great damage to the roots. Many potted plants are transplanted shortly before being sold, so plants that have not grown good roots can easily die without careful care.

4. Why do those flowers and plants look so bright and colorful? Because they have been injected with nutrients. I have visited the flower and bird market before. There is a place that sells prepared nutrients at a very cheap price. After using it, the yellow leaves immediately turned green. But in fact, it only treats the symptoms and not the root cause. Not long after, the whole plant died.

5. When raising a large number of flowers and plants, the method is often single, and many flowers need special care, so they are easy to die. I bought a pot of aloe vera on the roadside before, and watched the vendor watering the flowers and plants on the car. The aloe vera died a few days after I bought it. It was because I watered it too much before.

What should I pay attention to when buying flowers at the flower market?

1. Try to buy in large flower and bird markets and visit several of them. The staff in these places are relatively more professional. Fixed shops are more reliable than mobile vendors.

2. Before buying, pay attention to whether the soil is nutrient soil.

3. Judge whether the plants have been transplanted in the pot for some time based on the hardness of the soil. Generally, if the soil is harder, it means it has been transplanted for a long time.

4. Spend more time talking to the store owner, and you will have a better and deeper understanding of these flowers and plants.

5. If you are not familiar with these things in advance, you should buy some plants that are very easy to grow, such as green ivy. Beautiful flowers are generally not easy to care for.
