Why does the baby have diarrhea? What's going on? How can the baby get better quickly if he has diarrhea?

The baby's stomach and intestines are immature, and the digestive system is not yet complete, so it is easy for the baby to have diarrhea. Mothers should still pay more attention to the baby's stool. So why do babies have diarrhea?

Why does the baby have diarrhea?

1. Not adapted to new milk powder.

If your baby has been breastfeeding before and suddenly adds formula milk, there may be a period of time when he or she is not used to it. It is recommended to gradually add formula milk a few months before considering weaning, little by little. If your baby is allergic to ordinary formula milk or has other adverse reactions, it is recommended to change the formula milk.

2. Lactose intolerance.

To reduce fructose intake, if it is breast milk, take lactase 10 minutes before each feeding, and then supplement probiotics, one hour after meals, and the mother should also avoid certain foods. If the milk powder is not newly added, you can continue to drink milk powder, but you must take lactase and probiotics, and reduce fructose intake. For example, some babies will have diarrhea after eating figs, which is a manifestation of lactose intolerance.

3. Child’s physical reasons.

You may have caught a cold or have indigestion, have eaten too much recently, or have eaten unhygienic food. It may also be bacterial or viral. It is recommended to do a routine stool test to rule out bacterial and viral causes. You then need to look for the cause in the weather or the food you eat.

How to cure baby's diarrhea quickly

Many babies will have diarrhea when they change milk powder or add complementary food. This is because of indigestion caused by gastrointestinal discomfort. Just change the combination of milk powder and complementary food in time.

Generally speaking, it is not recommended to change the formula of a baby once it is used to it; when adding complementary food, it is generally recommended to start with rice cereal to let the baby's stomach gradually get used to harder food. If the baby is older, it can generally be treated by strengthening the spleen and stomach.

If the baby has already started to eat staple food, use diet therapy to solve it. Long-term diarrhea is mainly caused by spleen deficiency and insufficient kidney yang. Give the child a meal of mixed grain porridge every day, with lotus seeds, Euryale, coix seed rice, brown rice, millet, red beans, and oatmeal in appropriate amounts. Soak them in cold water for about four hours, then simmer them over a low heat. After they are stewed, skim the rice soup on top for the child to take. The rest is also good for adults to eat for breakfast. After a period of time, the child's spleen and stomach function will be normal, and diarrhea will no longer occur.

When eating multi-grain porridge, you can massage it. Use your thumb to massage around the child's belly button clockwise for about fifteen minutes. You can feel the strength of the technique yourself.

How to prevent baby diarrhea

1. When your baby has diarrhea, you should pay attention to and improve hygienic eating habits, and teach your baby to wash hands before eating to avoid stomach pain caused by bacterial infection.

2. Generally, breastfeeding is recommended for babies, which can reduce the symptoms of diarrhea; breast milk is high in nutrients and has high immunity, which can enhance the baby's physique.

3. Avoid extensive contact with babies with diarrhea. Bacterial infection may cause pathogens to the baby, resulting in diarrhea symptoms.

4. When adding complementary food to your baby, you should do it regularly. Wait until your baby is used to one complementary food before adding another one. And during this period, make sure the food is fresh and the tableware is clean.

5. Take your baby outside to do some exercise to strengthen your baby's physique. Of course, there are many factors that cause diarrhea in babies. If it is because the baby's digestion is not well developed, mothers must be careful about their diet.
