Normal abdominal pain in early pregnancy

Normal abdominal pain in early pregnancy

Gynecologists indicate that in the early stages of pregnancy, most women will experience nausea, retching, fatigue, frequent urination, swollen breasts, and other early pregnancy symptoms. In addition, in the early stages of pregnancy, some abdominal pain is physiological, that is, a normal reaction caused by pregnancy, but some is indeed physiological and may herald the occurrence of crises such as miscarriage. What is the cause of normal abdominal pain in early pregnancy?

1. What causes lower abdominal pain when you are just pregnant?

1. Physiological: Abdominal pain during pregnancy is caused by the enlargement of the uterus and the stretching of the round ligament of the uterus, which can cause abdominal pain. This type of pain is mostly located on one or both sides of the uterus in the lower abdomen, presenting as referred pain, dull pain or dull pain. The pain will become more obvious when walking a long distance or changing posture.

2. Physiological abdominal pain: If you experience abdominal pain in the early stages of pregnancy, especially pain in the lower abdomen, you should first consider whether it is an indication for cesarean section. Common complications include threatened miscarriage and ectopic pregnancy.

(1) If a pregnant woman experiences intermittent lower abdominal pain, back pain, standard abdominal pain, or pelvic pain during the first few months of pregnancy, the problem may be very complicated.

(2) If you experience severe pain on one side of your lower abdomen, accompanied by vaginal bleeding or fainting, it may be an ectopic pregnancy and you should go to the hospital for outpatient treatment immediately.

(3) If accompanied by spotty bleeding in the vagina or a noticeable feeling of heaviness in the abdomen, it may be a sign of threatened abortion. In this case, you should stay in bed more, avoid sexual intercourse, move less, avoid lifting heavy objects, drink water, and seek medical attention immediately.

2. What causes lower abdominal pain during pregnancy? Common causes of lower abdominal pain in early pregnancy include:

1. Threatened abortion: The main clinical symptoms of miscarriage are lower abdominal pain and vaginal bleeding in early pregnancy. If you find lower abdominal pain and bleeding in early pregnancy, you must be vigilant.

2. Ectopic pregnancy: Ectopic pregnancy refers to the situation where the fertilized egg implants and develops not in the normal uterus, but outside the uterus, such as the fallopian tubes, uterus, ovaries, abdomen, etc. In addition to being unable to grow happily due to the wrong growth site, this type of test tube embryo may also cause disease and harm to the pregnant mother, which requires active and comprehensive management and treatment.

3. Uterine fibroids: Uterine fibroids may grow during pregnancy. The impacts on pregnancy include uterine fibroid transformation and necrosis, uterine fibroid distortion, and direct impact on the development of the baby or hindering delivery. This type of pain usually comes suddenly and the pain is fixed and belongs to local pain.

4. Uterine and ovarian tumors: During pregnancy, complications caused by uterine and ovarian tumors are also very common. These complications include tumor distortion and tumor rupture. The vast majority of uterine and ovarian tumors during pregnancy are benign, and malignant tumors account for only 2%-5%. In any case, if you are found to have uterine or ovarian tumors during pregnancy, please maintain close contact with your gynecologist. Once severe pain, abdominal discomfort, abnormal abdominal enlargement, ascites, etc. occur, you must see a doctor as soon as possible.
