25-Hydroxyvitamin D is the main form of vitamin D in the body. Vitamin D is a steroid hormone compound and a fat-soluble vitamin. Vitamin D not only affects calcium and phosphorus metabolism, but also has a wide range of physiological functions. It is an indispensable substance for maintaining human health, cell growth and development. So, what is the normal range of 25-hydroxyvitamin D for pregnant women?

The normal range of blood cell 25-hydroxyvitamin D is 10 to 80 mg per liter, which is equivalent to 10 to 80 nanograms per ml. 25-Hydroxyvitamin D is a specific form of vitamin D that the body converts from vitamin D. Vitamin D itself has no physiological effect. Conduct scientific research using D3 marked with H3. The D3 absorbed in the stomach and intestines first undergoes C25 hydroxylation in the liver to become 25-hydroxy D3. It is then converted into 1,25-dihydroxy D3 in renal membrane proteins and then transported to the colon mucosa, promoting the absorption of calcium, which is the unique function of vitamin D.

Testing the level of 25-hydroxyD in the blood can determine the level of vitamin D. If it is lower than 12.5, it indicates a deficiency of vitamin D; if it is between 12.5-25, it indicates a mild to moderate deficiency of vitamin D; if it is between 22.5-50, it indicates a slight deficiency of vitamin D; if it is between 50-75, it indicates a deficiency of vitamin D; if it is between 75-250, it is within the normal range. The normal 25-hydroxyD level in children should be kept between 50-250. If 25-hydroxyD is lower than 30 for a long time, children are at an increased risk of developing vitamin D deficiency rickets.

There are two forms of vitamin D in the human body, vitamin D3 (cholecalciferol) and vitamin D2 (ergocalciferol). Vitamin D is converted into 25-hydroxyvitamin D (25-OH-VD) through hydroxylation in the liver, and then converted into specific 1,25-dihydroxyvitamin D in the kidneys. The level of blood cell 25-OH-VD can reflect the body's vitamin D storage level and is related to the clinical manifestations of vitamin D deficiency.
