How to deal with cracked putty

The cracking of putty is generally caused by the cracking of the base wall. The treatment method is to remove the putty layer, go to the base position, caulking with quick-adhesive powder, stick caulking tape, and then scrape the putty.

The specific construction methods are as follows:

1. Use a wallpaper knife to make the existing gap into a V shape. If it is a sanded wall, try to reach a certain depth and width (about 5-10mm, opening size 3-5mm); if it is a gypsum board, try to make it deeper and 3-5mm wide.

2. Use caulking plaster or quick-adhesive powder to a certain concentration with clean water to fill the gaps. Be careful to clean up the excess material and keep it flat and not higher than the wall or gypsum board surface.

3. After the plaster or quick-drying powder is completely dry, apply the caulking tape. There are many materials for caulking tape: paper tape, cloth tape, fiberglass self-adhesive tape, etc. The cloth tape used in the past has basically withdrawn from the market; the paper tape used now is gradually replaced by fiberglass self-adhesive tape.
